My favorite big, red, cranky mare is back at Willowbrooke (the barn I took lessons at until this past winter). Possibly just for the summer, but  it's a development that's got me seriously considering the possibility of working lessons back into my budget...even if I could only afford to do it every other week or so, or every week but only for a ( Read more... )

I like the DEC. The trainer there (Christopher Ewing) is really nice, and it's quiet most of the time, not too busy. Lessons run about $40.

Which barn have you been going to? Barn Politics is why I quit riding at a barn in town here...it's only 5 minutes drive away, but the people there (the owner mostly) was such a horrendous power-hungry, manipulative, queen-bee bitch, I stood my ground against her for 7 months, and then bailed...it really ruined everything. It stemmed from my stance as a leisure/retired hunter-jumper who just wants to ride, spend time with the horses - vs a show-barn environment. UGH!

/end rant...sorry.

Detroit Equestrian Club? I used to help coach the UofM Equestrian team way back in the day :O)
