Beware! Grand Rapids is probably the whitest, churchiest city in the state. And Calvin is a Christian college, of course, so.... don't let them know that you're from the evil pit of hell that is Metro Detroit. They might feel the need to rid you of your demons or something ;-)
Calvin isn't too bad a venue... for a Christian college ;-)
GR is a decent place these days, not as scary-right as it used to be (I say, while I haven't been back for going on half a year now- and we all know what impending elections do to towns). I think it might surprise you though, it can be a fun place. If I remember any good bars or places to eat around that area, I'll give you a list before you go...
Heck, I'd tag along (I'm always in the mood for music I haven't heard)- but (somewhat ironically) I'll be in Georgia on the 21st...
Oh my goodness, that is too crazy -- we're swapping! And it completely slipped my mind that you're from there!
Where in Georgia are you going to be? I'm from Rome (the aforementioned tiny city) and lived in Marietta -- the "metro Atlanta" area for a while, too. I hope you have fun, it's nice weather this time o' year!
well, technically, I'll just be passing through on my way to Florida (thankfully, near the northern border) - but I'm possibly stopping for a night to sleep and to see Buckethead and That One Guy play in Athens...
If the weather in the Carolinas right now is any indication as to what Georgia will be like this time of year, I can't wait... It's a nearly perfect early fall right now.
As Amanda's friend who still lives in GA... it's perfect right now, weather wise (though it's been raining and my shoe is leaky... other wise, it's been nice). And Athens is always a great place to go see a show.
