Have sent email to both my sentators. I basically copied yew (coz i'm lazy, meh)
But i added:
I personally am a "queer" girl who happens to be in a lifetime committed relationship with a "queer" boy - and i don't want to get married - even though we legally could - because I don't think it's fair that some of my people i love & care about are unable to get married. Please don't take our state backwards in supporting this ridiculous ban.

Right. So, assuming there's valid research (which is a bit of an assumption) from which Mr. Horrible-Slick was referring, yes, almost certainly said research wasn't set up to compare gay vs. straight households. And you're probably right that he's probably referring to single parent household research. But you know what? Lots of people do _fine_ in single parent households. How insulting is that to them?
I just did a quick google of "gay parenting research" and came up with this article from the American Psychologists Association:
