Last night,I did a marvelous job at playing Fred. *LMAO* Why do you ask? Read on for the story...
First of all, for those of you that did not get why I mention Fred above... [Fred]die Mercury was the original lead singer for Queen when they sang Another One Bites the Dust. I mention this song and Fred because for nearly 5 minutes I was him! Yes, I gave in to my thoughts and attempted to karaoke the song mentioned above. Now, I know that I can publicly speak well as I have done it numerous times in the past. For that matter, I have sang in front of people before. Furthermore, I know that I know the beat and the words to the song.
However, once getting called to the stage to give the rendition of the hit song, it all fell apart and there was little to no time for anything... I quietly thought and asked to say a few words prior to doing the song. I told them, "I was not really Fred and that I know this song and will not try to mess it up too bad..." Let me say, there was a good reason that I did not pick a U2 song or something else that I would regret. Of course,
damonakat helped pick the song and I ended up agreeing with the choice.
In the end, I was happy that I didn't know very many people. It was not a normal hang out for me... The best part was that since it was a place that had a bar on one side, no-one knows how many drinks I may have had prior to making my presentation. My only hope is that people will not remember it, when I go to do it for real. Hopefully, when I am in the mood and have practiced ahead of time, not on the fly and doing just to say that I did it.
At least, the people did not laugh too much during the song nor did they harass me afterwards. In fact, they actually clapped and cheered when I was done. Of course, 80% were probably drunk and didn't know what I had done to a good song but that is OKay with me.
So go ask Alice, I mean
damonakat (or even
whtrabit2001) if you really want another perspective. I hope you (
damonakat, your mom, or anyone else) don't think I am too much of a freak to hang out in public with now. Just let me file this in the forgettable moments of my life basket.
The lone positive (if there was one), at least I was brave enough to get up there and try and sing the song even under all of these circumstances...
Quick Song Fact: Released 22nd August, 1980 - Spent 9 weeks on chart and reached number 7.
One last thought...
Are you ready, hey, are you ready for this
Are you hangin' on the edge of your seat
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
To the sound of the beat - yeah
Another one bites the dust
Another one bites the dust
And another one gone and another one gone
Another one bites the dust, eh
Hey, I'm gonna get you too
Another one bites the dust
