❧ From Luministi With Love

Jun 11, 2011 15:00

[a little before 3 p.m., two voices can be heard arguing over the CAT, though their words are slightly distorted as the random connection isn't the best. the voices belong to the two mysterious figures, though this is the first time anyone's able to hear them.]

--not going to stop this. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, right?

[the older sounding of the two voices sounds resigned] You've made your mind up already--[the connection goes out a little, making his words unintelligible]--know what I'd rather do to find them.

Live a little--[static builds suddenly]--sides, this way is far more fun. Everyone loves a little conflic--

[and just then, the clock ticks over to 3 p.m., and all power to the CATs instantly cuts out, simultaneously cutting the connection to that exchange. they are completely unresponsive and are frozen in whichever mode they were in before the outage. not too long after, those in their homes will hear the doorbell ring, but no one will be outside when the door is open. an envelope addressed to each resident is left outside lying on the stoop. those out and about will randomly be handed the same kind of envelope from a passer-by, but that person, too, will also disappear once it's done. inside each envelope is a letter that reads as follows:]

    Dear citizens of Luministi,

It regrets me to inform you that continued issues to the town’s communications systems have led to the temporary shutdown of the entire network. This means that both the CATs and vidscreens are now down. It is an inconvenience to me as well, but the software issues must be taken care of while the system is inactive. I trust you all will understand.

This does, however, raise the issue about how you will be able to pay for your purchases at any of our grand shops and restaurants in town. As the system is down for the unforeseeable future, you will be asked to simply sign in with proprietors of each establishment. That is all! Your purchases will be attributed to your account at the end of each day, and the best part of it all is you will not have to do any of the work.

As an added safety measure, I am going to institute a temporary town curfew for 9 p.m., effect immediately. There is no punishment for being found out beyond curfew at this time. The sheriff and his deputies will be around town patrolling the area, and if found breaking curfew, they will escort you to your homes. This is merely for your safety while our communications systems are down. Please be aware that obstinacy and resistance will not be met favorably.

Thank you for your understanding in this time of distress.
[look inside the envelope again and included with the letter is a special business card-sized note that reads, on one side, "For your eyes only!" and on the other side, well...]

❧ Plot Details: From Luministi With Love
First thing's first! CATs and vidscreens are, indeed, inoperable right now. No amount of tinkering or smashing them on things will get them to turn on. Thankfully, nothing strange will happen now when people meet up with each other. Oh yes, and remember the map of the town you got with your welcome basket? Those paper copies will definitely come in handy now. They list every location in town as well as where everyone lives. Hopefully you've kept it. Sheriff Iussus and his deputies will be around town to help direct people if they get lost, but they will be enforcing that early curfew. If you fight against them, you'll definitely be tossed in jail overnight to cool off. Really, the curfew is there for your safety, after all...

Now back to that suspicious business card-sized note... Not everyone will get the same one. The characters aren't quite aware of it yet, but there are some shenanigans going on (well, other than the usual shenanigans) and they're going to start getting caught in the crossfire, so to speak.

Please comment to this entry with your character(s) and using the AIM dice, I'll assign your character(s) a letter, either "A" or "B".

      If you get "A":
      • You'll experience gradually increasing symptoms of paranoid schizophrenia.
      • The more people you meet who also got "A"-type cards will increase those feelings.
      • The more people you meet who got "B"-type cards will lessen those symptoms.
      If you got "B":
      • You'll start out feeling no different than you did when you first read the card.
      • However, the more people you meet who got "A"-type cards, the more you'll slowly start to experience those symptoms of paranoia.
      • Meeting others who got "B"-type cards will lessen any signs of paranoia that you might have caught from the "A"-types--or if you haven't met anyone with "A"-type cards, you'll feel like your normal self.
To make things a bit more interesting, I'm going to screen my responses to you. Please make sure you have email or LJ inbox notifications turned on so you can see the response. I do ask that when you make entries, you don't say which one you got or describe the card either--however, you can within comments while talking to other characters. (Plus if you wanted to talk about them to your fellow players elsewhere, you can. I'm not going to stop you~) Why you'll feel one way or another depending on who you meet is due to what the cards will look like to that other person, and that I will explain in my response to you. (Hopefully this is all making sense. I promise it's not as complicated at it may look! x.x )

See, the name of the game this time around is espionage. Someone around town really will be trying to contact the residents through covert means--and at the same time, attempts to prevent contact that person and instill mistrust will be made. Who this person might be, well, that's the trick. The cards will be a clue as to who, but the older residents might have an idea who it could be already, as will anyone who learned about what happened the last time the town was active, be it from Fuu or any of the others.

Things around town are only going to continue getting weirder...

    ----------------------------------

Now for a bit of business! I'd like to thank everyone who participated in the recent Fourth Wall event! I know I had a blast seeing so many fun characters out and about, and I hope you guys did too! The event is still open if you want to play around in it more. I'm not going to close it.

What'd you think of having the event like that? Would you like to see something like that again in the future? Let me know!

Also, this is a heads-up that our first Activity Check is coming up this Tuesday, June 14th! To pass, you need to have either:

    • Made at least one post or log and commented to at least two threads (or logs) in the posts of others.
      or
    • Commented to at least five threads (or logs) in the posts of others.
If you don't think you have enough, you definitely have a few days to make up for it~ And yes, comments made to the Fourth Wall entry will count.

Now, I believe that is it! If you have any questions at all, please don't be afraid to ask me.

    Have fun everyone~ ♥

EDIT: Oh comment screening... If you have any questions after I've given you your letter, please comment to your previous comment or you can start a new one altogether. I apologise for any inconvenience this might bring!
