So she dashed to catch up, then fell into a quick stride just slightly behind Mister Braxiatel, effectively letting him take the lead. (And she appreciated that he was indeed strolling quite a bit slower for her sake.) The glasses obviously wouldn't make their noises disappear as well, so they would have to walk in silence to the phone to avoid discovery.
For all that she trusted him, she still hoped that they wouldn't encounter anyone between here and the phone.

When he handed her the receiver she hurriedly took it from him in surprise. She hadn't expected that (but perhaps she should have). Not wanting to miss a word, she listened carefully.
The voice was heavily modified, like she'd seen in movies. "Someone in town is lying and not who they appear to be. The poison was just the start of the trials to come. Keep each other safe and never forget who you are!"Shaken by the message, Fuu whispered desperately into the phone, "Wait! Who are you-!" But she was only answered with a click, then silence ( ... )

The walk back didn't seem to take as long as the walk there, and by her watch hardly any time at all had passed. Arriving back at the blanket, she gratefully took a seat and sighed. Her mind was bursting with questions and concerns - she wondered if her mind would ever not feel like this for as long as she was in this town.
"Ah, but I'm glad to be rid of that ringing! I certainly couldn't have gone one more day with that. It was a very important message, but it seems a bit obnoxious to have the phone ringing all the time. Driving us to take the call is one thing - driving us crazy is another."

"That's true," she agreed, and an idea floated to the top of her mind. Traveling freely, ne?
"Normally I wouldn't recommend it, but it would be interesting to get into some of the more... restricted areas of town. Like the Mayor's office. The Doctor said that he'd been able to unlock the door once before. Maybe with these glasses, we could get in and wait for him to show up.
"The message just now said to watch out for a liar. To me, there are a lot of suspicious people around, but the Mayor has got to top the list because we've never seen him face-to-face. If we could just find out more about him..."

Yet she couldn't shake the desire to sneak into the Mayor's office. To see the man face-to-face. A crazy idea, but if the Doctor helped her, it just might work. Taking a calming breath she looked up at the stars. She'd think about it. If it still seemed a viable idea even a week or two from now, she'd try it - to look behind the curtain.
"...hey, that looks like Orion," she murmured to herself before turning back to Mister Braxiatel. "You're right, it's certainly worth talking to the residents. Yet, do you suppose they'll share much with us, as outsiders in their small community?"
