Kelly started reading Fellowship of the Ring last night and is on Chapter Two right now. I'm impressed that she's interested in reading the books. I've got two boxed sets of the Trilogy. She's reading one of them, I'm on the other. Tag team reading. :)

****In other news, I've decided that having so many manuals is more of a bane at certain times ( Read more... )

I so very much feel your pain on those manuals. And don't forget all the spells in Dragon (and occasionally Dungeon)! I have a Diviner in the group, and since I've seriously revamped the magic rules in my game, I'm desperate to grab all the Divination spells I can (I did get the Encyclopedia Arcane on it - surprisingly few spells in that one), but I'm still loath to hack my way into the thickets of Dragon. I have found a few, though. Let me know if you'd like a tip. :)

i don't use dragon magazine really, some of the most hideously unbalanced things ever can be found there. What with that they don't playtest and all.

Mostly talking about Prcs though, don't keep up to speed on spells found therein.

Yeah, that can be a problem. SKR was talking about how some of the newer stuff is just out of whack and really unbalanced. Did you notice in Sandstorm that there's a feat in there that lets your fire based attacks BYPASS an enemy's fire immunity?! Wtf... I mean, c'mon!! What exactly does immunity mean if something can get by it?

*Red dragon pulls himself out of a pool of lava and rises up to confront adventurer* "Rawwwr! N'stuff!"

Adventurer: "Eat my fireball!!!!!!"

Red Dragon: *dies*

:'( Is nothing sacred anymore?

lol, well Skr also said the feat was only needed because of d&d's immunity system. like a dragon can DRINK LAVA and be totally fine. he suggested Makingit Fire resistance 60 and just using maximize fireball instead.

as it stands though, Fire specialised mages need this, elemental savants and all.
