Tutorial - How to use Textures

Tutorial requested by psychodids to show how to use textures when making icons. All of the texture used in the tutes are made by me and if you'd like can be downloaded in their respective sets at my journal, just hit the tags to find them or check memories. :)

Great tutorial! Much appreciated. Can I ask just one silly question? Is it possible to use an option similar to "screen" for textures in other phtot-editing programmes, like for ex. Arcsoft Photostudio 2000? I tried simply making the layer more transparant, but that mostly ruins the effect. ^^;
