In a city on the edge of a wide river, there were citizens that loved to exchange talismans of their fondness for each other. Of all the artisans in the town, two were revered above all others for their craftsmanship and the care with which they created small items for the townsfolk to pass to their loved ones - Lee the parchment monger and King the storyteller. People would travel long distances to acquire beautiful reams of parchment they could use to inscribe their deepest thoughts upon or to sit and listen to tales of beautiful worlds and heroic people. Unbeknownst to either artisan, however, there was one in town who bartered for the parchment not for his own needs, but to record the stories passed along during the sessions at the town's center. This mysterious soul compiled story after story into a single large volume, which he then passed along to a young woman for whom he yearned. This act won her heart, and for ages thereafter the townsfolk spoke of the King-Lee gift one man had bestowed upon his love ( ... )
