LUMOS SORTING APPLICATION
Name:
Elizabeth Corwin, AKA
salazarfalcon. My father wanted to name me Mavis, or Zelda, but my mother didn’t like it and so they came to a compromise. I’m Scottish, if you want to go back that far, but the last two generations on both sides of my family have been born in the USA, so I’m not really. I’m my father’s side, I’m English and Welsh, as well.
Age (13 or up; we stick to LJ rules):

Where did you hear about this community? (Please tell us which
lj user recommended you for he/she shall be given a point.)
kagomeundomiel, simply because she brought it up in an entry.
How much time are you willing to invest in this community?
As much as needed. Whenever I have a problem or a discussion I want to make, I’d like to be able to bring it up without getting scoffed at for a supposedly ‘stupid’ problem.
PART 1 - Canon
1. Have you read all the books? Of course. Trust me, if I hadn’t, well, I’d be a sad, sad little girl.
2. Give us your personal interpretation of each Hogwarts house (in
terms of atmosphere, mentality, intra-house relationships et cetera -
these are just a few examples).
Gryffindor: As said, brave and daring, but with reckless tendencies. Because of the whole, "Gryffindors are good!" thing, they can be a bit closed-minded to others. However, they have good relationships with the majority of the other houses because they're fairly accepting and friendly. They're very proud, and sometimes are so concentrated on what they consider 'right' that they fail to see other sides of the equation.
Ravenclaw: Knowledge is the key word here. Ravenclaws are devoted to their books and pride themselves on a logical answer to any problem. They're excellent strategists, but when it all comes down they can be more suited to intelligence work than being on the front lines like the heroic Gryffindor. A Ravenclaw dislikes ignorance and can therefore be misinterpreted as anti-social when really they are simply on a quest to further their knowledge, and are sometimes be classified as boring or know-it-all, as opposed to concentrated.
Hufflepuff: Despite popular belief, Hufflepuffs are NOT just "-a bunch of duffers,". While trusting (sometimes a bit too much) they are exceptionally loyal and never give up under pressure when many of their peers will. A person with the friendship of a Hufflepuff has them for life. Unfortunately, due to the fact that they ARE so trusting, if they have the wrong kind of friend, the kind that doesn't really care, they might be swayed into something they wouldn't normally do. While in desperate need of appreciation, they're also very well liked for their good natured attitudes and are generally very popular.
Slytherin: They know what they want, pure and simple. They come off as anti-social and uncaring, but it’s really not true. Slytherins are prideful and don’t like being second at anything, which is one of the reason they have so many issues with others. They get a bad reputation because of the fact that Voldemort was in their house, but when it comes down to it, every house has it’s traitors. Slytherins are known as the “evil” ones, and they don’t really try to get rid of that stereotype, simply for the fact that they AREN’T very trusting. However, the ones they DO trust they are fiercely loyal to, and won’t put up with any badmouthing, lest the person gets their face knocked in the next time they walk down a dark alleyway.
3. What would be your favourite flavour of Bertie Bott’s Every
Flavour Beans and why (note: as the name implies, all possible flavours
exist)?
I go for traditional: Cherry. Most things I like would just be disgusting as jelly beans, and even though I like the food itself I wouldn’t eat them because (more than likely) of the texture and it would be gross. Cherry is always good, because even though it sometimes has different kinds of flavors for different things, it’s something I like and KNOW I like and that‘s the way I want it.
4. If you were on your House’s Quidditch Team, which position would
you preferably play and why?
Beater, because I don’t put up with things I don’t appreciate. I’m good with a weapon, but I’m not very coordinated with a ball and I don’t fancy chasing a little gold walnut with wings or getting smacked in the head with the quaffle because I’d be too slow to duck. Besides, ‘accidentally’ whacking someone who ticked me off last with a bat would amuse me greatly.
5. (Optional) What HP conspiracy theory do you hold true unless it
is textually proven otherwise? (i.e. Snape is a vampire, Ron is
Dumbledore, etc. -there are loads of these theories. Feel free to contribute
your own)?
I can’t answer this one… sorry.
6. (Optional. If you can't answer #5, make sure you answer this
one.) What is your favorite book aside from HP and why?
The Picture of Dorian Gray. I like the whole theme on the fact that beauty is only skin deep, truly, and nothing is ever going to change that. The book proves that some things are better left alone, and that trying to change them simply means that you are immature and selfish. I also love the writing style, the flow of it, and how at some points I can’t put it down, or at others I have to stop, take a breather, and then continue.
7. What would your Room of Requirement look like?
Apart from it looking exactly like Hagrid's Hut….. I think I’d like a giant meadow full of horses where I can relax and wind down. I get stressed out and nervous easily but don’t ever show it, but it starts getting obvious when I start snapping at people. I want lots of flowers for the aroma-benefits and for the color and long grass and a clear pond with a giant rock to look into and swim in. Really just a place that I can feel like I don’t have to put on airs, or act falsely energetic and just be me.
8. Describe your wand and tell us why you picked that design.
Ebony, eleven inches, about an inch around, with a dragon heartstring. Eleven inches seems about right, not too long or too stubby, I want something I can swish and at least get my hand around. I don’t like sitting still and oh-so knowing and wise like what a phoenix makes me think of, and I’m not very naïve or “Come save me handsome prince!” like a unicorn. Once you get me out and relaxed and with people I can trust I can get kind of crazy, but not so much that I’d do something I’d regret. I like to get out and have fun. Ebony always sounded like a strong type, and unbending, stubborn, seeing as I don’t like to cave in either.
(EX)
“Elizabeth, say sorry for hitting Billy!”
“No way! Little brat deserved it, why should I apologize for something I’m not sorry for?”

What's Your Personality Type? 10. Who is your role model and why?
The Jrocker, Gackt, because he inspires me. I'm rarely impressed by what I only see, but even though I'm thousands of miles away, he makes me want to be a better person, which is something that almost never happens. He has such a plan for himself, he know exactly where he wants to go and what he wants out of life, and that's something I respect and appreciate. It's hard for me to get an exact lock on what I want; I'll know a vague idea but not down to the very cent. However, I don’t want to be exactly like him, because it’s impossible, and I‘d be best at just trying to be me.
11. What would you like to have accomplished at the end of your
life?
I would like to have saved up a whole bunch of money for my family (or what's left of it) to use as they see fit, I want to go to Japan and see Gackt live. I want to buy a giant house and a large property in the middle of nowhere and have lots of pets, no husband or kids, because they irritate me and I would be a terrible mother. I want to have had a successful career and I want to be respected and appreciated most of all.
12. Would you sooner commit a crime against your kin or your
countrymen?
No. I’m too close to my family to do something like that. Besides, if they all really tried, I’m sure that they could kick my butt to kingdom come if I did something that bad.
13. What would your animagus be and why?
A cat, because I like to be myself a lot of the time but if I want to I’m very affectionate and snuggly. But if you tick me off, I’ll scratch you and go stalk off to sulk in some corner somewhere. I’d like to be able to jump that high (whoosh!) and climb trees and be able to slink around and not be seen. (and use run-on sentences and not get yelled at for it!)
14. What would your patronus be and why?
A horse, because I've been riding since I was little, and horses have always been a sort of protection for me, a sanctuary so to speak. I could always go to the barn and relax, just talk to them and hang out. No matter what's going on they're always there like people might not be, and they always listen and won't tell. They’re honest; what they want and need they do there best to tell and show you; they’ll never lie or deceive you.
15. What career would you consider if you were indeed part of the
wizarding world and why?
I think a curse-breaker, because I've always enjoyed puzzles and I like a good challenge. I'm never one to give up or back down, and if something frustrates me or makes me really try, I only get after it more. If something's worth trying for, it's worth ging all the way for and doing it right! No half-assing it. As I once said while playing with a wooden puzzle, a block snake that could be manipulated back into a cube, “Alright you, listen up! I’m not gonna let a wooden snake beat me, y’hear?”
