So I was reading some customer_suck posts and one thread had a bunch of people ranting about customers reading their nametags and using their names when addressing the person

This is why I would never work a job like that if I didn't have to. I use my last name when I answer phones and people sometimes hate it, but it's better than having strange men know my first name (especially if they then try to FLIRT with me) or hearing it mispronounced all the time.

I have never had a job that involved me being around customers, so I don't know how it would make me feel in practice, but I would find it odd if people addressed me in a store with my name if I didn't know them. I think I would prefer a nice "miss" when I was being addressed.
