I think the internal debate means you still care about existing in the world as a caring, ethical person, and that's a good thing. And you don't have to help with money if you don't have the money. And you don't have to be friends with your co-workers.

(All the above are things you already know, but I thought I'd lend my voice of support.)

       I think you two's job is a pit. You get used and screwed. Which, yeah, that's any job. But this job/this company is bad for it. Give the guy $20 and you both should start looking for a new job. *hugs* Miss you guys, so much.
