I wasn't going to bother posting my little concert synopsis this time, I know most of you aren't that into it, but I do actually like to look back on these at times, so this one's for me!

tl;dr version: We had a great time! )

I'm so envious! Sounds like a great show and very cool that they ended up playing your favorite song. Haha funny that your brother recognized it before you did. Reminds me of when I saw STP at the Common Ground Festival in Lansing a couple years ago with Keith and, after someone really pissed him off during the Roots' set at a different stage, he said the only thing that will un-ruin the day for him would be if STP plays "Silvergun Superman", which wasn't a hit, so wasn't necessarily likely. Anyway, STP finally took the main stage and I went nuts as the opening riff of "Silvergun Superman" blasted out of the speakers and Keith's like "what's the big deal?" I had to yell the name at him a couple of times before he realized it was his song. : )

Aww no e-cookie for me, sadly.

Oh yeah, you only got the "sorry I woke you up at 3am" abridged version ;)

Ha!! That's a funny Keith story! They did that song just a couple years ago? That's cool, I might have expected it earlier on before they had zillions of hits. We saw STP back in the 90s, possibly more than once but I don't remember for sure (my bro would be annoyed at my CRS disease here >.>)... I went to more concerts back in those days.

The one person who I think might get the e-cookie isn't on LJ much anymore, sadly! I'll give you a late one though if you happen to have a "ohhh!" moment at some point in the future, though by then you may have forgotten all about it?

(Yes, I'm awake very late/early here, not working tomorrow.)

From what I've read, Wendy was first used in Peter Pan as a girl's first name but prior to that it existed as a surname and possibly still does.

What do you mean you're too tall? Too tall for what?

Yeah you are! Dang!

A surname?? Never heard that one! Interesting!

Just too tall in general. Taller than average for a girl. I'm a bit self-conscious about it. Not even model-tall or anything but I'm taller than most girls I know and I tend to wish I were a couple inches shorter because smaller = cuter :D

I had wanted to ask you about your name because to me it sounded like a short form of something and I couldn't figure out the original name...

But now I really want to know: how tall are you exactly?
Also, don't wish to be smaller! Being cute is NOT a good thing if you want to be taken seriously in the working world. A lot of people (not just men) talk down upon you - and I don't mean that just in the literal sense.

*points to his explanation of Wendy's name*

Its technically not short for anything but a different spelling.

He asked if I knew where the name came from, and I said I'd heard it was from Peter Pan but didn't know if that was true, and he said yes, there's no Wendys in recorded history before Peter Pan so that's where it came from.

*sputters incoherently for a couple of minutes*

My dear, you KNEW I would have to say something about this! Wendy has a few possible origins. First, the Welsh name Gwendydd (pronounce Gwen-dee, "white day") is a plausible first usage of the name and is the name of Merlin's sister. Wendi is also the surname of two emperors in China during the Han Dynasty and the Sui Dynasty.

However, your young friend is right in a way. The name Wendy became popular because of J.M. Barrie. Barrie "created" the name based on his friend Margaret Henley. She pronounced her "r" as "w" so she commonly called friends as "fwendies" (friendy). Since she was such a childhood fwendy-wendy don't be judging little kids..., he based his female lead on her and called her Wendy ( ... )

Actually I threw that bit in offhandedly and I'm surprised people are bothering to comment on it! LOL.

That's interesting! I can be fwendy-wendy! (haha, and my pseudo-niece who is now 2 calls me "Wenny")

So... should we start referring to you as fwendy-wendy now?

We get along better than any siblings ever! Only one fight we can remember as kids, and we could only stand to be mad at each other for like an hour before we had to make up.

Okay, you guys are tall, but I'm one of the tallest people at work and that's where I spend most of my time! I'm not THE tallest. LOL @ "twisted thoughts" - like it's a sinister thing! Maybe I want a good excuse to wear flats? I always marvel at tall people (like models) wearing heels to make them even taller. WHYYYY.

Yes indeedy! Will look for you to say hi!

It was loads of fun, yes!
That's okay, it's kind of an obscure reference :D
