Prologue part 2

Hyde took a last look at the British scenery, suppressing the desire, of quickly running away from the limousine that was awaiting for him some feet away. Stomping his cigarette on the ground, he directed himself towards the limo; he didn't want to leave. It wasn't like he particularly liked London, in fact he really detested the cold weather, he had barely managed to act out all the scenes he had for Kagen no Tsuki. He simply didn't want to go back to Japan, back to his even colder reality.

He brought out his cell phone, and scrolled through his outgoing calls. The same name had appeared over and over again. He clasped his right fist on the black leather seat of the limo, and with his left thumb he selected one of the names.

-         Moshi moshi … - said a voice with a dragging tone. Hyde was startled by hearing the voice, he wasn't expecting the receiver to have answer

-         Saki, it's me … - he softly replied, as he could he hear the man exhaling on the other side

-          did I wake you up? - he softly continued.

-          No. I have been awake. - dryly replied the man. There was a pause, as Hyde calmly thought over how to phrase his following sentence.

-          Baby, I tried to call you so many times while I was here but- he tried to say as he was abruptly interrupted by the other man.

-          Yeah. I was busy - merely replied the other

-          Shows? - kindly asked Hyde, biting his lower lip

-          Stuff … Why are you checking on me? - irritatedly said the other. The singer took a big breath, holding his forehead with his right hand, against the limousine's door.

-          I am not checking on you baby, I was just … I wanted to hear your voice that's all. Anything wrong with wanting to hear one's lover's voice? -

-          Let's not start this now … - swiftly replied the other man

-          Start what, Sakura? - rashly asked Hyde, who was slowly losing his calm - I have been hear for four fucking months, Sakura! I called so many fucking times, worried out of my mind. You could have called me back, at least once, e-mailed me or something! - finished yelling Hyde.

-          I was busy I told you! Get off my case, fuck! - yelled back Sakura. The singer was now closing his eyes tightly, trying to prevent tears from falling down.

-          Why are you always doing this to me? … - he loudly whispered.

-          Fuck … not again … - replied the other, Hyde was now sobbing

-          Why are you crying? - irritatedly asked the drummer, but Hyde didn't answer. None of the men uttered a single word, until Hyde cleared his voice, and said

-          I'll be back tomorrow -

-          Un - replied the other man. Another silence fell, once again interrupted by the singer, who cleared his voice an then whispered

-          I love you … -

-          Un ... see you tomorrow - replied Sakura hanging up.

The singer kept on starring, at the phone, as his tears kept on increasing, along with his sobs. He angrily threw the phone into the leg space in front of him, and hardly massaged his his forehead with his hands, as his incessant tears continued their flow. Tears of exasperation in remembering, who he had given up for Sakura, and tears of abhorrence, realizing he just didn't know how to quit the drummer. Because it was like an addiction, and one of the worst once at that. Addiction was the perfect word to describe their relationship, given that all their problems had always been somehow related to drug use.

The time L'Arc~en~ciel was formed, the drummer and the singer hit off immediately, it was love at first sight, and they did indeed completed each other. Hyde was the winy little princess always craving for attention, and Sakura the proud prince, who would have fought the world, to keep the singer forever happy. Yes, forever, because that was the promise they had made each other. So what had gone wrong? Why wasn't Hyde able to stop the beginning of this tragedy? Sakura had always been the adventures one, while Hyde was very wary of useless experimenting, but he always followed his lover, because they were one entity. The day Sakura came home with a little plastic bag of angel dust, Hyde tried to talk him out of it, but Sakura was assuring him that everything was going to be alright that he had already tried it before, and there he went, saying the now unbearably heavy sentence “Together forever, remember?”

So Hyde followed him. At first it was a light usage, but then, as drugs are often apt to do, they became addicted. The other two members tried to talked them into going to rehab, and where Tetsu was finally able to knock some sense into Hyde, Sakura wouldn't listen to anybody, not even his eternal lover. Hyde finally came out successfully from rehab, but staying with Sakura, who hadn't yet given up on the angel dust, made their living together a living hell. Sakura had become violent, he wasn't hitting him, but the mental abuse was just as bad, and in order to avoid getting into depression, Hyde secretly resumed the use of angel dust. The few times he was drug-free, the singer tried and tried to remind Sakura how they used to be happy together, how he used to want to protect him. He tried to make him realize that this was rapidly destroying them. However, the drummer always pushed him away. Then began the threats, Hyde would tell him that if he didn't quit, he would have left, but Sakura didn't believe him a single bit, and increased the verbal abuse, convincing Hyde that he was wroth nothing, and that he couldn't have made it without him, because the were destined to be together Forever.

The moment before the night Sakura was arrested, the two of them were in a club, among other angel dust addicts, and were engaging in a rather animated fight. Hyde threatened to kill himself if Sakura didn't promise to quit right there and then, Sakura told him to go right ahead; and Hyde did. He rushed out of the back door of the club, and dragged himself to the nearest train station, stood at a platform and waited for a train, and there came the sound of his liberation, rapidly approaching, he closed his eyes, and left himself.
Few minutes later, he opened his eyes, glad to find out death had been painless; but Hell surely sucked, it looked just like the station he committed suicide from.

-          Are you all right? - said a voice. Hyde suddenly looked at his waist, something, or rather somebody was wrapped around him. Realizing he hadn't died, he began crying. He then fought to free himself from the stranger, wishing to be able to catch the next train, but the younger man was stronger. Hyde was still heavily under the dust angel affect, and got soon tired of struggling. The stranger, who was now sitting against a column, made him situp against his chest, he began stroking his hair, and for some reason, began singing
Miren ha nai to fumikonda

Onna hitori Toukyou eki

Mou tsukareta no ikiteru Imi ha nai

Kara …

Mr.Hyde? Mr. Hyde please wake up, we have arrived at Heathrow Airport. Hyde slowly woke up. Finding himself lying against the limousine's leather seat, he staid there for a second, in contemplation. Slowly he began caressing the leather seat, as if he could feel the warmth of the person who had held him so tight that night int that station. He closed then closed his eyes again, and as tears resumed their usual flow he softly whispered
       -          Ruki … -

Shou opened the main entrance and found Hiroto still flicking him off.

- You see this? Do - you - see this? Now you can take it and shove it up- tried to say the guitarist as the taller man, dragged him in, while rolling his eyes in exasperation. Shou closed the door, and turned to face his best friend, who was still giving him a dirty look.

-          What? - jokingly replied Shou, waiting for an answer, but the guitarist didn't say nothing more. He just stood there, sighed and slowly looked down, as if he was reminded of something that was bothering him; something was wrong, Shou could tell. However, he had bigger problems on his plate. He felt like the worst of people for thinking that, being that Hiroto was his best friend, thus one of his priorities, but Ruki's situation was still too fresh on his mind, to just leave it at that yet.

Shou was now cursing himself for wanting so desperately to solve the mystery around his cousin, or rather, he just wished it didn't have to happen on the happiest day of his life; the day when Alice nine finally officially became a band. He rolled his eyes again, Be careful what you wish for, they said; they were right. He looked at his best friend again, who hadn't bulged from his floor contemplating position, and trying to sound like he didn't notice the guitarist distress, he approached him. He really hoped that whatever it was, it could wait for a bit longer.
       -          Are you ok there? - giggled Shou walking past the guitarist. Hiroto gave him a quick smile, and as he made the taller man sign to move on, Shou just shrugged, and proceeded towards his room.

As Hiroto sheeplishly followed Shou to the rather familiar bedroom, he glanced into the kitchen and noticed the shorter vocalist sitting at the kitchen table smoking, and holding a mug. He really didn't want to progress the already innervating morning with the vocalist’s cynical remarks, but out of respect he decided against his better judgment to greet the blonde.

-          Good morning, Ruki-san - he said and slightly bowed. Shou was already on the first step of the stair, when he heard Hiroto's polite remarks. A cold shiver ran through his spine, as he swiftly turned towards Hiroto again.

-          Chihuahua … - said Ruki, holding his mug in Hiroto's direction, and slightly nodding his head in reply. Hiroto had already foreseen such a reply. He was called that every time anyways, so this time he was determined not to give the vocalist any satisfactions in showing him how much he hated that nickname. Moreover, even though the morning didn't have the best of starts, he still was lingering in the happiness of officially being a band; nothing could take that away from him. Thus, he just slightly grinned at the man, bowed, and directed himself towards Shou, who was looking stunned at Hiroto.

-          What? - He jokingly replied walking past the overly impressed vocalist.

Ruki had to admit that he didn't expect the hot-headed guitarist to act so maturely, and he was disgustedly impressed, but, there was no way he was going to just leave it at that. Ruki wasn't a loser, and bothering Chihuahua was just too much fun. Thus, he walked to the kitchen entrance, still holding both the mug and his cigarette, he cleared his voice just to make sure they could properly here him

-          Don't take it to heart Chihuahua, they say size doesn't matter and, oh, I would have offered you breakfast but … I am afraid we don't have any dog bowls, sorry - he concluded looking up the staircase, with a satisfactory smile. Shou swiftly looked up at the now livid guitarist. Clearly, maturity, and self-composure had already left the building. Hiroto was now running down the staircase, towards the kitchen.

-          The fuck with that! - he yelled as he roughly grabbed the vocalist by the collar

-          What the fuck have I ever done to you? - yelled Hiroto, tightly keeping his grip on the man's shirt. Ruki just staid there, motionless, as if wanting to be hit. Hiroto was trying his best to resist landing a punch on that pretty face, and as if suddenly reminded of his position and place, he swiftly let go of the vocalist, and deeply sighed, clenching his hands on his sides. Shou had now placed both his hands on Hiroto's shoulders and slowly directing him to the staircase, he looked at Ruki with a Was that really necessary expression.

-          Small dogs are sure loud! - whispered Ruki in his mug, apparently loudly enough that the guitarist was trying to free himself from Shou's grasp, who pulled him back and told him to just keep walking. As they finally reached the room, Shou closed the door, and leaned on it with a deep sigh thankful of the fact that they had made it unharmed.

-          I swear, next time, nothing is gonna hold me back. - grudgingly said Hiroto, nervously sitting on Shou's bed. Shou looked at the irritated guitarist, and wanting more than ever to change subject, he just directed himself to his packing boxes, still seriously contemplating not moving.

-          Just forget about him, you know how he is. - softly replied Shou, who was giving his back to Hiroto, leaving the guitarist with a scandalized expression.

-          Are we defending chibi-freak now, um hello? Best friend over here? - mimicked the guitarist. Shou hated having to be thorn in two directions, he just loved both short men, in two different ways of course, but nevertheless loved them. He sighed for the nth time that morning, and as he was shifting his gaze around his room, his eyes fell on the letter still lying wide open on his table; he panicked. Hiroto was looking in the same direction, and taken by a sudden wave of curiosity, he was reaching for the letter

-          New lyrics? - he said with a jolly voice, as Shou quickly slammed himself in-between the guitarist, and the desired object.

-          Y-yes, new lyrics .. but they are just scribbles, nothing. Really - hurriedly said Shou, who was now hastily folding the worn out paper, and placing it in his pocket, his heart insanely racing.

-          Show it me, I could help you out, if you are stuck - offered Hiroto, leaning a hand forward

-          It's ok. Really … I need to do this myself - quickly replied Shou. Hiroto rolled his eyes, and lying on the bed, he yawned and said

-          Whatever, Mr. I want all credits … - Shou simply gave him a nervous giggle, in realization of an even greater issue; where was he going to place the letter? Ruki would have soon surely notice it missing. If he just left it on the desk in Ruki's room, the short man would definitely know that he had read it. What to do, what to do … He had no good clue, and his head was too clustered in panic to think straight. What to do, what to do ...

-          Ne Shou … - suddenly said Hiroto, who was impassively gazing at the ceiling.

-          Yes pon - quickly said Shou who was shifting his attention in-between Hiroto and trying to percieve if he could hear sign of Ruki's ascent. Hiroto didn't say anything. Shou didn't seem to notice, and was now just quickly reviewing this morning events, in search for a hint, and then, as if struck by lightning, he saw it, the perfect solution. He was going to leave the folded paper by the staircase where it had originally fell. Hopefully, Ruki wasn't looking down, when he descended earlier in the morning. But then again, eve if he were, he still didn't realized he had lost the object, thus, there should really have been no problem.

-          We are best friends … right? - suddenly said Hiroto interrupting Shou's train of thoughts. Hiroto, turned his head towards Shou and saw him swiftly leaving the door knob, and crossing his arms in his chest, looking at the him with a smile.

-          Um, duh! Yeah what the hell, what's this all of a sudden? - Shou didn't mean to rush Hiroto, but he absolutely had to go, feeling that Ruki would have soon left the kitchen.

-          We tell each other every thing, … right? - continued the younger, who was now sitting up, looking straight at Shou with hopeful eyes. Shou's heart skipped a bit, did Pon sensed that he was hiding something from him, what was he supposed to say?

-          Y-yes … - he managed to reply, while impulsively placing his hand once more on the door knob. Hiroto had noticed, and biting his lip, he looked away.

Silence fell. Shou knew he was hurting the guitarist, by his nonchalant behavior. Hiroto was the last person to deserve such treatment, giving all the times the short young man had listen to every little and huge dilemma that Shou had ever had. Hiroto was always there for him; wasn't he in that room, at 6 AM, just for him? Then all of a sudden Hiroto's sadness had disappeared, and displaying the most beautiful of smiles he looked up at Shou.

-          … So what was it you called me up for? - he concluded. Shou felt a tight grip at his heart. There he went again, putting himself aside to worry about his friends first. Shou felt disgusted with himself.

-         Pon … hold that thought … give me just one second - finally said Shou, and Hiroto just nodded. Realizing that he could have said that all along, the vocalist damned himself for his lack of common sense. He rushed the door open, quietly listened for foot steps, and tip-toed towards the staircase. Reaching the staircase, he swiftly brought out he folded paper and looked down, contemplating the best way to place it on the floor. He then looked up and noticed the short vocalist, looking at him.

-          The fuc- manged to say Shou in utter surprise

-          When - how - did you get up here? - Ruki looked at his cousin with a rather tired expression. He remained speechless, and directed his gaze towards the paper that Shou was holding in his hands. His eyes slowly widened,

-          Where did you find that? - he quickly said in an annoyed tone, snatching the paper out of Shou's hands. The tall vocalist seemed to have lost his speaking ability, and all he managed to do was to point at a specific spot near the staircase. Ruki looked at Shou once more, and then repeatedly nodding in comprehension, he went to his room.

Shou was now slumped over the stair rail, and exhaled in relief. But swiftly got up, reminding himself that it wasn't over yet; there was still Hiroto.
