MAIN CHAPTER 10 PART 1 Never before, had he witnessed such a vacant expression, on the still very immature features of his youngest nephew. For a second, he had truly believed that Takeru was really going to get up, and take his flight, reason why he had placed himself next to said window; like he was going to allow him jump off. Leaning on the other side of the door, he breathed out in slight relieve, as he brought his head up and stared at a gaze averting Yasuno in front of him.
-Alright, so the show is over ...- calmly declared the elder brunette -... he speaks again, and he is resting at the moment, but do please go, and stay by his side Akira dear, just in case he needs something … I doubt any of the attendants can handle him the way he is right now ...- he sighed in resignation -in fact yourself might barely be able to ...- he plainly concluded, while observing a slightly offend Akira, whom without any objections calmly walked inside Takeru's room, gently closing its door -... the only person that could handle the poor soul, has apparently no idea that he can, and that he should, but he won't because he thinks he is something he is not - he concluded slowly placing his gaze on a still mortified looking Yasuno - Takahiro dear would you please take Shou to his room for me ...- he then smiled, looking with an incriminating expression at the blond in question, who seemed to have been caught slightly off guard.
-... his room is down the corridor, he does not need an escort - dryly replied Takahiro swiftly regaining his composure, keeping his slouched posture on the hallway wall, and gaining a diverted grin from his uncle, who quickly glanced at Kazamasa's not bothered expression. Darn good actors they are amusingly thought the brunette, still glad to realize that nobody seemed to have yet found out about the two of them. He himself had found out by chance, on his last trip home, and even given his high discerning abilities, he had to give it to the pair, they were doing an amazing job in hiding their relationship. Kouyou was most certainly impressed, and also diverted by the fact that the two did not know that he knew; it probably wasn't the most rightful of things, but he did like to play on that little fact.
-But have you no compassion for your brother? - he then stated trying his best to look displeased, rather than completely amused, as he walked towards the younger of the two, and placing his still gloved hand on his head, he endearingly stroke his locks -... he really was worried for Takeru, if you don't want to do it for him, just do it for me. So please take your brother to his room, and stay until he appears to feel better - he politely requested, keeping his innocent smile -... though giving your brother's lack of facial expressions it might be a little hard to tell, but do take your time, and don't come out until you figure it out - nonchalantly expressed the elder, lightly pushing the younger towards the elder, who quickly creased his eyebrows in visible irritation.
-Kazhuhiro is the one, who usually takes care of him, why can he not do it? - he quickly retorted in annoyance, pointing at the other blond, not once glancing at the head-lowered painter, who was now standing in front of him
-Oh how insensitive! - replied the brunette in feign outrage -... Kazuhiro will have to help Rijun, Kamik, and Akira to my residence, as I go and take a walk with Yasuno over there ...- he simply explained, as he walked towards Yasuno, and placed his arm under the one of the blond.
-Kazuhiro has no dealing in escorting anybody, that is what we have house attendants for - swiftly replied Takahiro sounding positively annoyed
-Will you shut up, and do as I say - dryly ordered the brunette, glaring at the protesting blond, whose mouth opened, as his features morphed in a questioning expression, and before he could retort anything else the brunette promptly added -... because I say so, and because I am smarter, older, and more handsome than yourself, now move it - concluded the elder brunette, expressing his rather childish statement in the most serious of expression; they were just so amusing. Loudly breathing out in clear exasperation, Takahiro swiftly enclosed his hand around Kazamasa's clothed arm, and dragged him along, without any protest coming from the younger, as they both disappeared inside the painter's room, closing the doors behind them.
-Alright alright, so would you please help me with that Kazuhiro? - he then kindly inquired the blond, who still seemed rather uncomfortable around the two Indian man, who turned towards him and politely bowed, as Akira, who was still being carried by Kamik, suddenly turned towards his owner, and extended his arms, restlessly opening, and closing his tiny hands, while mumbling what seemed like a distressed cry -... aaaw my little Akira! - exclaimed the brunette, as he dragged Yasuno's arm towards the little ape, and leaned to peck his nose - daddy has to take care of something real quick ... I won't be long I promise - he then promised patting the golden tamarin on his head, and calmly walking away with the eldest child still tightly under the grip of his arm.
The two adults silently walked down the other side of the corridor, seemingly partaking in a pleasant and relaxed walk between two people, who were very much acquainted with each other, which was in fact the case, however, the walk was going to be all but pleasurable.
-So ...- calmly began the elder, as they reached the bottom of the east side staircase, and directing themselves towards one of the manor's back-doors -... what is the answer to my question?- he nonchalantly inquired the apathetic looking blond, as they exited the house finding themselves at at the other end of the the garden of red roses.
-I do not bother trying to answer questions that I do not understand - plainly replied the blond, opening the back gate to his garden, and allowing the elder to walk in first, following soon after
-And that is precisely your problem- quickly observed the brunette, walking towards a group of blooming red roses, leaning is nose into it
-What? That I can't answer questions that I do not understand - dejectedly replied the businessman, dropping into the first white bench he could find, tiredly passing his hands across his face
-You do not bother … that is your problem - plainly pointed out the elder, as h kept moving from various flowers, not turn around, and directly regard the other stupefied expression on the blonds tired features
-Me not bother? - he indignantly spat, glaring at this uncles' scooted back, who was now touch and grabbing some of the soil at the bottom of the rose, and studying it in seemingly great interested, as he merely nodded at his question -Ever since the first day he set foot on this planet, all I have been doing had, and still revolves around him and only. How is that considered not bothering- he angrily accused, soon after restlessly leaning back on the bench, and holding his forehead with his hand, trying to keep his cool.
-So what? Did anybody asked you to do so? Did he come out of his mother's womb asking you to please live your life for him? - calmly inquired the brunette, cautiously removing soil from the bottom of one particular rose, paying attention to the rose itself, while waiting for a reply, which was obviously not going to arrive
-For starters … what you just expressed does not apply to the the definition of the word “bother”. What you have just described, was something more on the lines of unexplainable devotion, and irrational care - he resumed, tentatively pulling the rose from the ground, and soon after resuming his hand-shoving activity, seeing that the rose wouldn't come out - the definition of the word “bother”, intends the act of taking ulterior actions regarding something that could be easily dismissed, and cause immediate no harm … I believe - nonchalantly explained the elder, this time, shoving his hands deep enough, and bring up quite the amount of soil, with the rose in it, he sat on the ground indian-style, and turned towards the blond.
-Meaning ...- impatiently questioned Yasuno looking rather irritated at the elder, who was observing the plant with interest, and not once looking at the other
-Come and see ...- he then spoke, nodding his in his direction
-I see those roses on a daily basis Uncle Kouyou, please answer my question - distressingly requested the businessman with a deep sigh.
-Just lift your buttocks and come and see - firmly retorted the elder, this time raising his stare to the blond, whom newly sighed, and as told, he got up his chair to go and stoop next to his uncle.
-Roses are without a doubt beautiful. So beautiful that we instinctively want one, no matter it thorns, or the fact that once it has been picked it will quickly die, even when kept into a water vase ...- began the brunette replacing his stare on the plant -nevertheless, why do we pick them up? ...-
-I don't know Uncle Kouyou ...- replied the younger sighing in resignation, staring at the rest of the roses in his garden -... I mean, this is why we have gardens is it not? To be able to take care of them, and come and see them whenever … - he then tried to add, seeing that the elder was waiting for him to at least make some kind of attempt to answer his question.
-But what if out of all the roses, you see one that you really want, one that you do not want to be all the way over here because you feel it would be too far, one that you would not like for it to be with all the others because you believe it too special … what do you do then?- newly inquired the elder, in a calm and composed tone, shifting his gaze towards his nephew
-... you grab it and put in a vase ...- quickly and impatiently replied the elder
-But as we said, it is going to die ...- nonchalantly replied the elder, slightly shaking his head in negation
-I do not know uncle Kouyou! - exasperatedly exclaimed the younger, pressing his index finger against his forehead
-and there, is where you decide whether to bother yourself or not ...- quickly replied the elder, sternly looking at the elder, who was now still trying to understand the meaning behind it all -... you could bother to study about roses, and find out that as every other plant they have roots, meaning that you can pick it out of its ground, paying attention not to tear said roots, and grab some of the soil with it. You could then also bother to actually do so, and find an appropriate vase, or container, where to place it, with much more soil, and find a place where it will receive the right amount of sunlight in the new place you will choose for it. Then of course, you'd have to bother to give it water every time it needs, which for roses it not everyday, and it is not a lot - concluded the elder, replacing the plant in its hole in the ground, clapping his hands together in order to clean them out from the soil.
He then completely turned towards the now seated blond, who was absently staring at the rose, which was now back into its place, and taking a slow breathe he then resumed in his speech
-You obviously found something about Takeru that you don't just like, but somehow ended up to love, out of all the roses in the garden -figuratively began to speak the elder -you loved it so much, that you felt like you needed to protect him, take care of him thus … you picked him up; tearing all it's roots, and taking not even a grain of soil - explained the brunette, observing the younger's expression, which was changing into the one of a person, who was beginning to understand, and realizing what he had done -in your head … as long as he was in a vase and had water, it would survive. In your head, as long as he knew that you loved him, everything would have been alright -
-But it is not ...- interrupted Yasuno -... it is not- he repeated, as if trying to make sure the meaning of the words sunk in.
-Yes, Yasuno … it is not- calmly replied the other
-... I should not have picked the rose in the first place, it was not my place to do so ... I knew that, we knew that yet - woefully uttered the elder
-Yet you have, so there is no point in pondering on ifs, and buts now, and Yasuno ...- he then paused, nudging the blond's chin with his gloved finger's so that they could make eye contact -... you really cannot help who you fall in love with, you would not be human if you could... - kindly explained the elder, gently smiling at the still distressed looking blond -and in respect of the two of you, the bible says it is wrong, and people will condemn you and it all sounds very horrible and deplorable, but if together, the power, and strength of two people, whom love each other has no boundaries - he firmly pointed out -and god it drives me crazy, when I see people such as the both of you, letting such bond lose, and not even giving it a try!- concluded the brunette, lightly knocking his clenched fist on Yasuno's head.
-It is not as easy Uncle Kouyou … - quickly replied the elder, gaining a flailing of arms, and an annoyed expression from his uncle
-What is with your generation, and trying to make things seem harder than what they are!- he irritatedly exclaimed, glaring at the younger -it is easy! my dear Yasuno, very easy ...-
-How?! I am the family heir, I have responsibility, I have to carry the family name on, I- sternly explained the elder, but was abruptly interrupted by his uncle
-No you do not! You can still be the heir, without having to marry, and you are seven boys for crying out loud, there has got to be a straight one int the bunch!- quickly retorted the brunette, who appeared to be close to losing his patience -and even if there were not, then I guess this is just the way it was meant to be. Nothing lasts forever, all great dynasties come to an end, and considering the way we like to play war, I am surprised we lived to the day to see a progeny of seven male children - concluded the brunette, as he observed the eldest contemplating expression.
-I ...- began the blond, but was interrupted by the elder
-You have to seriously take some time, and figure out what you really want, because in your case my dear, it really is as easy. You can marry whomever woman, still knowing that you will love none of them, have all the kids you want, live wealthy, and respected by everyone. Or take Takeru with you, and come out as the rich stingy bachelor, who has no intention of taking wife, and die as such … while living in the same house with his brother, whom had happened to choose the same faith... - he proposed, putting particular emphasize on some of the professed words, as he quickly got to his feet, patting his behind from the possible grain of soil that might have stuck.
-To you the choice Yasuno ...-
-Where are you going? ...- quickly inquired the blond, still sitting on the ground, in his contemplating mood, as he looked up at the elder
-Well Akira is waiting for me, I promised I would be quick so ...- nonchalantly dismissed the brunette, pushing his black locks to the back, with a graceful shove of his hand
-Akira the monkey? ...- smirked the younger in a rather amused expression
-Golden lion tamarin ...- readily corrected Kouyou, glaring at the blond, who merely chuckled, making him roll his eyes in resignation -... on a second thought ...- he then whispered, looking at their chapel in the distance - … I think I am going to go an pray a little bit ...- he declared, gaining a laughter from the younger -What? ...- he quickly snapped, glaring down at the oddly contort in laughter blond
-You? In a chapel? Pray?... for what? … do they even have a type of prayer, for what you would have to ask forgiveness for?!- continued the younger sounding utterly entertained
-I am going to pray for the lost soul of your uncle Takuya … do you even remember him poor soul, you were so young I doubt you do ...- he stated, vaguely making a sign of the cross with his gloved fingers, which could have appeared like the hand of a drunk trying to point in some direction.
-Hmm … right ...it still surprises me how you can talk so lightly about your deceased younger brother ...- replied the blond, skeptically looking up at his elder
-What?! The man gave his life for this country, so he is certain to have a place in Heaven. Thus, … I am going to make sure that he keeps me a good spot when I will get there - nonchalantly explained the elder, walking towards the main entrance of the garden
-Right … - breathed out the younger, in renewed skepticism, as he shook his head -... Uncle Kouyou!- he then called out, as the brunette, gracefully turned around
-Yes my handsome nephew … - politely replied the brunette, playfully flapping his eyelashes at the seated blond.
-... thank you ...-
-Oh but you are so very welcome!- rapidly professed the elder, holding a hand on his heart, with an expression of pretense modesty, making the other newly shake his head, and smirk, as he lay flat on the grass of his garden.
Walking out the garden, the brunette wasn't shocked to find out that nothing had changed, everything was exactly the same. The same gardens, the same guest houses … the same obnoxiously stupid statue. He would have spat on it, as he passed by, if he didn't believe that even his spit to be too good for that piece of rock. Even the chapel, looked exactly the same, which was a lot to say when thinking about the person inside it. He almost felt like laughing, but nothing about the deal behind the chapel, and the inhabitant was truly funny. Pushing the doors of the holy structure open, he nonchalantly walked inside, once more drunkenly pointing directions to his head, shoulders, and chest, without even bothering to bow, and quickly speed walked to a bench right behind one where his only priest was currently kneeling in apparent prayer.
-How was it? ...- Kuoyou loudly whispered in feign anger trying to get the priest attention, who didn't bulge -.... in nomine patris, filis, et spiritus santcis? … haven't done it in a long time, you need to help me out here … Takuya - smirked the brunette, as he heard the priest breathed out in visible annoyance
-Well look who is here … - absently replied the priest, turning towards a overly smiling Kouyou -... what the- began the priest caught off guard by the now brunette, and he quickly stopping himself from cursing, he cleared his throat, and resumed -what happened to your hair? - he finally inquired
-Dye. Like it? - enthusiastically chirped the brunette
-I do not think I have a say in the matter ...- calmly dismessed the priest
-Oh Takuya, you are so not fun - Kouyou pouted in feign offense -.. and I had come here to pray for your soul - he explained -... you know, to ask for you to keep a place for me in Heaven - he quickly added vigorously nodding his head, as he observed the younger sighing in resignation.
-Even if I were truly dead, I would most likely be in Hell Kouyou, you should know that, and stop calling me that … it's Father Byou, remember?- sternly reprehended the younger, glaring at his older brother.
-To me, you will always be my cutsy little brother Takuya. The legendary “Soul-less General”, famed for his viciousness in killing his enemies, and incredible war-field tactics, whom .. suddenly disappeared, thus believed to be dead to the world, and part of his family ...- concluded Kouyou, smiling at the unimpressed younger -... how those that sound, I was thinking of writing a biography of your amazing life, it would sell so much!- quickly added the brunette, not obtaining any reaction from the other
-Do as you like Kouyou … Takuya is dead anyways, there is only Father Byou now- firmly stated the priest, newly turning around, and kneeling to resume his praying
-Should I also write that you are uncle of four … and father of three? - whispered the elder in a tone fake cautiousness, causing the younger to quickly turn around and pointedly glaring at elder -... just saying ...- calmly replied the brunette now seriously looking at the younger
-Do you always have to bring this up every time you come see me? … - exasperatedly sighed the priest
-I just think that Kazamasa, Takanori, and Takeru, are at a age in which they should know who their real father is ...- nonchalantly pointed out the brunette, leaning on the back of the bench
-Sure ...- sarcastically uttered the priest -... and tell them “Oh guess what?! I am you true biological father, you see, me and you mother hooked up, because she though that maybe she would finally have a girl, and nobody would have to know, given that it was in the family anyways” - cynically spat the younger -... I do not, to this day, know why exactly I had accepted to such a brainsick idea-
-Probably because Yoshiki begged you to ...- dryly pointed out the elder -... always, always, always doing whatever big brother asked you ... - he then pointed out, falsely rolling his eyes, as he felt sorry seeing the usual mortified expression on his younger brother's face -... if I had been here, I would have not allowed it, but … I would have probably caved in under the pressure of all of them, and the church … I guess ...- quickly added the brunette -all I am saying is that you cannot hide this forever- he then observed
-Yes I can, and so it will be - sternly warned father Byou intently glaring at his brother -imagine what will happened to Taknori's career if something like that came out … it would be ruined, and it would be too much of a waste, for the world to lose such a wonderful mind, because of what a couple of stupid adults believed the only solution at the time - quickly added the priest, heavily breathing out
-Hmm ...- absently hummed Kouyou as if suddenly remembering something of extreme importance -Takeru … - he then whispered, this time being his turn to look sincerely mortified, as the other newly sighed
-You have no idea ...- lowly uttered the priest, fixing his gaze on some random spot on the bench where Kouyou was sitting -I was the one who found him with the slitted wrist Kouyou - slowly explained the younger, pausing for a second closing his eyes, and massaging his eyebrows with his index and thumb -... I have never been that frightened in my entire life - painfully breathed out the priest, his eyes still firmly closed -... no war, no battle, no gun, or cannon had ever … ever … made me panicked like I did last night Kouyou … what if he had died? My mind went blank ...- calmly confessed the younger
-It is natural for a parent to feel that way ...- kindly expressed the elder -... which is why I think you should tell- newly tried to attempt the brunette, in a lighter tone, but was quickly cut off by the younger
-No!- almost yelled the priest -... no, please ...- he then whispered trying to regain his composure -I would never want them to know the kind of father they have. Things I have done, and that I can never atone for would bring them down further than what they already are … they are in the right place where they are, they have absolutely no need of me- he confidently concluded
-Every time I can back, I can read it in your eyes, how you wish you could act like a regular father … you need th- tried to kindly point out the brunette, but was yet once again interrupted
-I have them all to me for an hour on every Sunday …. that is enough for me, and ...- suddenly paused the priest, nervously revolving his gaze to himself- Kazamasa … does come here every once in a while ...- he reassured, nodding to himself -... it is almost as if he knew- he bitterly smirked looking up at the still saddened elder
-Whatever you say Taku-Father Byou … - quickly corrected himself the brunette, being glared by the other -... you are going to be the one to suffer in the end though- he quickly added in resignation, as the other newly turned around, to resume his routine prayers
-... That is alright, one way I could begin to atone for my sins ...- calmly replied the priest, as they remained silent, the elder waiting for the younger to finish his prayers, as he got up properly doing his cross sign, and lifting form his kneeling position, he calmly sat on the bench -... things have been changing around here though … -serenely expressed the younger, keeping his back to the elder
-Oh really … cause I haven't notice anything, in fact things things seem worse than before ...- dryly observed the elder, keeping himself leaned back on his bench
-So it may seem ...- pointed out Father Byou -... have you met Uke Yutaka?-
-met who?...- uninterestedly inquired the brunette
-Do not worry, you will get to meet him soon … he … is the unknowing reason of all the change around here … things might finally get better for good- explained the priest with a chuckle
-Somehow I have the feeling that I do no want to meet this person...- quickly replied the brunette, in a momentary state of concern, and he absolutely didn't like that feeling. The feeling that something big was truly about to happen, and that it somehow it would involve himself as well. Wanting to get rid of the completely disturbing feeling he resolved to do what he did better, annoy his younger sibling; he had missed that -... but do you not want to hear about my journey?!- he excitedly exclaimed, leaning forward over the bench in front of him, to stare at his younger brother
-How about some confession time? … when was the last time you actually went to church?- resignedly inquired the younger
-Oh do not worry about that … I have the money … - winked Kouyou at a head-shaking priest - … now I really want to tell you about the things in my journey!!-
-... are you sure you also did not sleep with Namie? … like around nine months before Takeru was born? ...- perplexedly inquired the priest, as he looked at a totally unamused expression on the elder's features -because I swear … the both of you are like … I do not know … like share the same brain … it is almost scary- concluded the priest, performing a pretense shiver
-Like I would ever get close to a woman … please ...- quickly dismissed the brunette, looking rather disgusted at the mere thought -... forget about that, now it is me time. My journey!!-
-Do I have any choice in the matter? ...- absently inquired the priest skeptically staring at the grinning brunette
-No - quickly chirped the elder
-... thought as much-
