Nerds! I need you!

So I am putting together my Christmas list and I need some good books to put on there. I am feeling SciFi/Fantasy lately...so give me some suggestions people. What are your favorites? What have you read recently (or are currently reading)?

Oh dear, I can prob be embarrassingly helpful here. Like, how "good" do you want them to be? Satisfying like a bar of chocolate, or deep, meaningful works of literature?

Chocolate is good. Something with an entertaining plot and well developed characters that is good for snuggling on the couch with the dog.

My favorite! Scott Hank is a really good person to ask as well, since he is inevitably the one who shows up with book crack. I think all of this first set, except for the Jewels, he got me on.

These are typical fantasy/mystery type stuff
The Hollows series - Kim Harrison
The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher
Black Jewels Trilogy - Anne Bishop (can be a little perverse, only read the first three)
Fever series - Karen Marie Moning (still in progress...ends, um...abruptly)

More scifi/steampunky/weird
Snowcrash & The Diamond Age - Neal Stephenson
Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card
The Forever War - Joe Haldeman
Neuromancer, Count Zero & Mona Lisa Overdrive - William Gibson
