I can just imagine the DM being this surly Staff Sergeant, and the wizard played by a green 2nd Lewie.

Wizard: "I cast Fireball at the orcs! Yes! Perfect 20! They are toast!"

DM: "Unfortunately sir, you neglected to account for the pool of oil the Orcs were standing in. They die, but the backwash also takes out you and your party. I feel sorry for your platoon."

Wizard: "Crap!"
