I'm truly looking forward to Valentine's Day. I've never really been able to get over the production that was made over it my first year here, and the past years have been a little disappointing ( Read more... )

So who is he? Or she.

Hey, my mum's got it into her head that there's metrognomes all over West Ham and she says she's put bits of rowan down all the drains to keep them out. (Poor bloody plumber who has to deal with that, and I don't see how it'll help even if there are gnomes hanging about.) This isn't something she got out of the Quibbler, is it? Only it sounds utterly daft

Well, you'll see, won't you? (And he is, indeed, a he.)

And that's actually quite clever of her. I have heard of the metrognomes, but the bits of rowan part is very clever -- I hadn't heard of that way to keep them out. Would she be interested in writing about it, do you think?

Oh, come on Luna, spill.

What you think it actually works? I mean, sure, rowan's great and all but she'd have as much luck pouring milk on them, I'd have thought.

Yeah, I reckon she would. But, you know she's a Muggle, right?

Oh, because I'm really going to write it out for all to see and spoil the surprise for everyone.

But if you like, you may come talk to me and I'll tell you in person instead.

Milk would work just as well, but rowan is more prevention than milk. With milk you have to wait for them to actually show upn so you can pour it on them, whereas rowan will just keep them away before they appear.

Do you think we'll get a Hogsmeade weekend for Valentines? It's nice to have something to look forward too isn't it.

It'd be lovely, wouldn't it. I think we will, but we will see if there's an announcement. It hasn't been that long since winter holidays, you know...

That's true but we haven't had a weekend in a while. Oh well, no use worrying about it, they'll announce it soon enough if we're to have one.

I hope I won't disappoint you.

I mean I'm pretty inexperienced at this dating at this girl at this Valentine's stuff, but I'll do my best, heh.

I'm positive you won't.

I probably have even less experience than you, but I'm going to try my best. It's only a silly holiday in the end.
