I don't know if anyone on my f-list has seen The Borgias, but I watched all three seasons this week on netflix and FELL IN LOVE with Lucrezia/Cesare. I have so many feelings about them and I've been pouring over the internet ever since I finished it, reading fic and reblogging things.

Cesare's character from S1 to S3 goes through this amazing transformation and killing Juan is a huge part of that for him. I remember being shocked that he actually went through with it.

I was kind of annoyed with the way they wrote Lucrezia in the show. I always look at the real Lucrezia as being a sad victim of her family. Her life was tragic.

Cesare definitely has a dark character, but I wouldn't say he's a villain or anything like that. Mostly it's his ambition that drives him to make morally reprehensible choices and not any innate cruelty. It's like you see his soul become slowly more and more corrupted as the show goes on, but I still have this soft spot for his character because his actions are always framed in a way that makes sense. He's ruthless but still reasonable.
