I came across you via the ratties group. I'm a bit of a boring old fart but I also love all things furry and my parents immigrated from the Netherlands (Roermond) to Canada and I'm currently living in England. Feel free to friend or reject. :)
I first moved to England in 1995 when I married my British husband and lived in Weston-super-Mare for 9 years. My 3 kids were born there. We moved to Burlington, outside Toronto, in 2004 but came back to the UK in 2006 and have lived in Exeter since then. I really like Exeter and the West Country in general.
My dad worked for C&A for 27 years and it's through this job that my parents moved from Amsterdam to Montreal. Dad was transferred back to the Netherlands when I was 9 months old and we lived in Laren, near Hilversum, for 5 years before being transferred back to Canada. So Dutch is really my mother tongue, but I speak it badly and, according to my late mother, with English grammar and a thick Canadian accent. :) One of my brothers lives in Amstelveen and my entire extended family lives all over the Netherlands so I still have strong ties with the country. My brother send us care packages with hagelslag, ontbijtkoek and chocotofs, and we love him for it!
The West Country is a beautiful, beautiful part of England. It was always my dream to live in Woolacombe, which is in North Devon! My family and I used to go on holiday there a lot, and I just fell completely in love with the place... Last year I took my Dutch boyfriend there and he also loves it. Definitely worth a visit if you've never been there!
Hehe, Speaking Dutch with English grammar and a thick Canadian accent! I'd love to hear that ;) at the moment I have broken English, and the English I do speak is often VERY grammatically incorrect!! That's why I love typing... Haha.
Hagelslag is yummy. I love the hagelslag mix... I remember when I turned my nose up at it. But now I think it's lovely.
I love making pancakes... And I'm really good at it too. Still don't understand how Yorick (my OH) can eat them with ontbijtspek AND syrup and all kinds of other sweet things... Hehe!

I just read your question about peppermint oil over at the handmade craft forum. I just made peppermint cookies last night! If you would like to send me your address I'm happy to get a bottle from the store and mail it to you. It will be one of my Christmas Good Deeds! We actually use peppermint extract. It's peppermint oil that is diluted. Pure peppermint oil is so strong I can't imagine making anything with it straight. So let me know if you want a bottle - not a problem to send it at all. Merry Christmas! -Carol (Write my personal email carol@mypermanentemail.com if you want a bottle. That's the email I get everyday.)
I'd like to be your friend, but I understand if you don't want to be mine. Please understand that the response from myself and the other people in the comm are directed for your benefit. We're all really worried about you, and it's hard because there isn't anything we can really do to help, besides telling you over and over that you deserve to be happy. I'm sorry if my words have upset you, but like I said I am very worried about you. =/
We don't have any common interests - and the only "common" interest we do share, is the topic of the same community we both belong to. But I do not write about that particular issue in my personal journal.
I hope I didn't offend you with the above, as this was not my intention - but thank you for your concern.

I like pretending to be a boring old fart sometimes - so don't worry if you really are one... Maybe you can help me with my technique! ;)
I too love all things furry, so it will definitely be nice to have you as a friend.
So when did you move to England? Have you lived there a long time?
