I woke up after five hours of sleep, around 6am, and couldn't get back to sleep. I'm not sure whether it was because of pain or hunger; neither was particularly noticeable until I had woken up a bit more, then I got quite hungry and I was aware of my pain level. Not debilitating, but present. My right shoulder is unhappy; I may have put out my collarbone when I carried the potted currant bush across the back yard.

I got up at about 7:15, showered, and dressed. My right knee feels unstable and a bit painful, which means the rain probably prompted it to swell and put the joint slightly out of alignment. I'll need to fix that along with my shoulder, and I've pulled out the knee brace for the first time this season. My feet aren't particularly bad -- no specific pains, though none of the joints are flexing without a bit of complaint, and not as much as they should. My lower back is stiff again, and my psoas as well, but I don't think I have time to stretch this morning. My upper back is kind of stuck, but not especially sore.

My vision is almost completely clear today, which is a nice change. I could just about read the car's license plate from 50 feet away.

I'm having lemon verbena tea and oatmeal with dried cranberries for breakfast, and I've packed a couple of hotdog sandwiches and a can of peaches for lunch. I'll be doing some walking today, so I have to take the time to fix my feet.

My thinking is pretty clear, though I've been running on the low-blood-sugar side too much for my liking of late. Maybe the walking today will help correct that a bit.

Heh. I sat down to write this entry, got up, and had to hobble painfully to the kitchen. I guess my feet are more cranky than they were letting on.

I just got home from staffing the sick plant clinic in the morning, then walking over half of UC Berkeley campus. I could only do half today, and at that I may have overdone it. Still, I was able to walk up gentle inclines without stopping, and I only had to sit down to rest three times or so, so I'd say it was a good day. My feet complained bitterly every time I got up after sitting, which is part of why I didn't do it more, but the last time I took a rest I felt very tired and foggy, so I called it quits. My phone says I walked about 5km.

My knee held up pretty well, though we'll see how swollen it is tomorrow. I was wearing my work boots, which have more cushioning and support than my other shoes, and that may help.

I'm quite hungry and a little chilled, with a flush in my cheeks which may mean I pushed too hard. General pain level is good, but it usually is after light exercise; again, we'll see how it is later.

I've eaten some leftover soup and two helpings of dinner. I'm still flushed and running cold, and getting increasingly tired. I don't have the adrenaline-fueled rush of a real crash, though, so I may be fine in the morning.

My feet are very angry at me, though. The left is worse than the right, with stabbing pains in my left heel and at least three metatarsal joints which are stuck and won't allow the foot to flex properly. I'll try to mobilize those before bed tonight.

I spent about three hours out in the shop. Most of that was sitting down, doing some delicate shaping and fitting work, but enough time was spent on my feet that they're downright sore. I had some restless energy, though, and I had to do something with my hands.

I'm having a dish of applesauce before bed. Hopefully I've had enough to eat tonight that I won't wake up hungry.
