There are times when I could quite happily strangle my customers. They ask the most stupid of questions!
"Is this the only sellotape you have?"
No, we're just hiding it from you for shits and giggles.
"Do you have twenty Mayfair smooth?"
Not on me, but the packet you're looking at right now and yes, even pointing at, is available.
And, of course, the ever popular; "How much is this?"
Well, the fact that it has '99P TODAY ONLY!' on it might give you a little bit of a hint...
And for Goddess' sake, stop asking me if you 'can' do or have something!
"Can I pay 98 Holmdene's papers please?"
No. Just because I don't feel like going through the process.
The please is lovely! A thank as well, even better! And a hello and goodbye? Perfect! But a 'can I' is unnecessary! You know you can! What's the likelyhood of me saying no? Stop asking me!!
And another thing! I can take pet names. Babes, darlin', sweetheart, luv, dear, mate...they're all fine! My name's even better! But I don't mind the others 'cause they're terms of affection. And since I'm the youngest employee there by at least 25 years, it's to be expected!
But please, please, don't call me 'girl'!
That's not a pet name, it's a noun.
I don't call you 'man'. I call you 'sir'. Please extend the same curtosy!
A final word, and it's one of warning.
Gentlemen, I work in a newsagents. Not a brothel. If you try to grab my ass you will be slapped and banned from the shop.
Or, possibly, land up in hospital given my mood of late.
You have been warned.
On another unhappy note, we loose an hour's sleep next week. Yup! Spring is here! I celebrated Ostara Friday night. Me and Ellie decorated a couple of eggs and gave them as gifts to our ancestors at the Coldrum Stones.
But it was dark, cold and windy. And Ellie was getting a little freaked out. So we didn't stay long.
Speaking of the rat...she's now on boyfriend number five. Liam. Who seems very sweet. And is therefore, I fear, doomed.
I'll be oh, so happy if she proves me wrong and they stay together for a long time, but I can see my sister getting a little bored. God knows she needs a decent bloke, and I'd love to think Liam was it!
But I doubt it.
Mother's Day is today and that's fun and games for all since Nan's funeral was earlier this month. It was my uncle's birthday a week after she died and it's her birthday next month. I think she did it on purpose so the two of them (my uncle and my daddy) can get over it all in one go.
I got mum some flowers and made her the traditional (in our family) home-made card.
College/Uni is all sorted now. I'm officially kicked out of this year's course and am taking the year again with the current first years in September. Hopefully I'll be able to keep ahead of the game by doing some coursework over the summer. Oh yeah, note to self, return the library books to college before they sue you!
I'm meeting up with Susie on Thursday. I can't actually remember the last time the two of us just sat and talked to one another. I hope it's not too weird. That's the last thing I need.
I've got a new phone coming tomorrow! Sounds nice too! And a good deal for me; 100 minutes and unlimited texts for £15 a month! Perfect since I barely use my minutes unless someone's having a crisis. I use texts more. I'm also well on my way to saving up for the London FIlm and Comic Convention this year! Me and Ellie are planning to go in cosplay and for the full two days!
We're meeting Holly up there too!
I'm also thinking about joining my local theatre again. I used to love acting! But it got stupid when our new leaders put the older and younger groups together. A whole load of silly girls sitting there, giggling and saying 'we can't do thaaaaaat!'. Then why are you here?
Twats.
I think that's my rant done for the week. Tune in next week for possible rants on sister's boyfriends and my best mates.
Ja ne~
