When Rita Mordio first met Estelle, she could tell right away that the pink haired girl was a princess. Her mannerisms, the way she talked, the way she dressed; it was all obvious the girl was royalty. That’s why from the moment she met her, Rita knew she wanted as little to do with her as possible. After all, it was royalty who abused their power and forced the mages of Aspio, including herself, to work solely for their purposes. Royalty sat around giving orders without really understanding the issues at hand and ignoring anyone without a fat wallet. Royalty sought only to gain more power for themselves instead of helping their own people who suffered from poverty. It goes without saying that royalty was a big cause of annoyance to the young mage and she wanted nothing to do with those ‘self-righteous pigs’.

Rita had pegged all people of royalty the same way and she would not change her mind.

So, it came as a surprise to her when she started to develop feelings for this young and naïve princes that she had grown to develop a close bond to. If Yuri Lowell hadn’t blatantly stormed inside her house branding her a thief and practically forced her to prove herself innocent like she said she was, she would have never had the chance to get to know Estelle the way she did now. She might have to thank him for that, but the thought of thanking him sent a chill up her spine as she pictured the smug look on his face he would have. She mentally agreed that she would rather not do any thanking.

She sighed once, but a soft smile quickly formed on the normally serious mage as she thought about all the time she had spent together with Estelle. She admitted, although stubbornly, that she had grown quite protective her as time passed. Judith often poked fun at her for being too hotheaded to notice it, but there was no denying that Estelle had caused something inside Rita to change. Estelle truly cared about people and always took action for the sake of others, a quality that Rita had lacked for most of her life as she retreated into blastia research. Yet, Estelle was able to reach inside the mage’s heart and show her a kind of light she never thought existed. For once, she stopped caring more about blastia and more about the friends she surrounded herself with. And for once, she was able to open up to someone who was real and all hers.

Yes, Rita Mordio had grown to ignore the demands of the Empire’s royalty, but there was one princess she would do anything for because that was the one who stole her heart.
