my adventures in LA

Jul 29, 2007 14:36

Hi! Sorry I haven't written in a while. Anyway, I just got back from LA, so click the cut to see some pics and hear my adventures.

We stayed at this awesome hotel called the Millenium Biltmore. It was really beautiful but it was in this business part of town so there

wasn't a whole lot in walking distance except a Carls' Jr. and a Starbucks that closed so early that we never got to go there. But the

architecture of the hotel was simply beautiful. Here's a few pics so that you can see what I mean.

My mom had doubts as to whether she should have made our reservations there or at the Roosevelt hotel. We went into the lobby and
I prefered the Biltmore even though there was more history at the Roosevelt. Here's a picture of the hotel.

Our first day there we went to Hollywood. We saw the Chinese theatre and took one of those "homes of the stars" tours. The tour was ok although it did promise a lot of things that it did not deliver (we never saw Tobey Maguire's house!).

I thought the Chinese theatre was very beautiful. I kinda wish we had something like it in our town. The new Harry Potter movie was playing. I wanted to see it there because I thought that would be cool, but my family didn't want to spend the time. Oh well, a girl's gotta try, right?

This also has the star footprints and handprints. We saw the actors from Harry Potter's prints. Mom was kind of cheesy with the pictures and said we should put our hands in our favorite celeb's, so I put my hand in Johnny Depp's handprint. I try to think more about his hand being there and not the millions of people who have walked on it.

There were also a lot of celebrity impersonators there. Mom and I got our picture taken with Minnie Mouse and I met Captain Jack Sparrow.

Oh, and I did see something cool on the tour. This is the bar where Teri Hatcher (Susan) from Desperate Housewives rode the bull in

the episode when she and Edie were following Mike to see who the girl living with him was.

We also went to the Santa Monica pier. The ocean was just beautiful, I've never seen anything that came so close to touching on infinity, you know? They also had a lot of carnival rides there. Jordan and I rode the ferris wheel so that we could get a good view of the ocean. I thought Mom was a good sport going there because she's afriad of birds and that place was swarming with them. If you can stand birds, it's a pretty awesome place, though.

Any Doors fans here? Well, if so you will like this next set of pictures. It took a lot of detective work, but we were able to find the Morrison
hotel. You know, the building featured in the album art to Morrison hotel. Anyway, it's pretty run down. It looks like we arrived just in time because it looked like they were about to demolish it in a few weeks or something. It's funny, the things we remember and the things we forget. I think Abbey Road is still a popular place for people to visit and here's the Morrison hotel on its last leg and there's no one there, not even a fellow Doors fan. I don't know, it just made me kinda sad. Jordan and I got out to take pictures by it-I practically had to twist his arm to get him out there, no neighborhood besides Beverly Hills will do for him.

While we were there we also saw some TV shows being taped. We saw On the Lot, Jeopardy!, and the Jimmy Kimmel Live show. The set for On the Lot is a lot smaller than it looks on tv, but it was still very ornate and bright. Jimmy Kimmel and Alex Trebeck were very nice and would talk to the audience. If you want to try to see us, go to thelot.com and look for archived episodes, select the one that says action movies. Also, watch Jeopardy! on Sept. 17-19. I don't know if you can see the Kimmel episode with us, but you should watch his show anyway because its awesome. Sadly, we weren't allowed to bring cameras, so I just have one picture of the theatre where Kimmel is filmed from across the street.

We also went to the Warner Bros. tour which was very cool. They had one floor of a museum dedicated entirely to props from the Harry Potter movies. Sadly, we couldn't take pictures there, but it was awesome. They also let you get sorted, and I'm officially a Slytherin! Wooot! They also had large villages from different time periods, like a New York village and a suburban village. It kind of felt like an amusement park. There was a pond and grass where a lot of nature scenes are filmed. It amazes me how creative these directors are, they even turned the pond into an ocean! We didn't get to tour ABC, where Lost comes from, but we did get a picture of the building.

It was a very fun trip. We saw a lot and I think Jordan learned a lot about his future. I know that if anyone can make it out there, it's him! I'm gonna leave you with a view of the skyline, please excuse the smog.
