[After a long, arduous day spent training in the forest, the stalwart Paladin returns home to his loving-and-yet-makeshift family, greeting them cordially before settling down with his journal the way some patriarchs reach for the daily newspaper. Frowning, he jots out a short note.]

[Children are prone to wandering, so he doesn't think very much of it until the third lap or so. He looks up then, watching her curiously.] Are you searching for something?

Then what is the cause of all this pacing?

Why would she need a puppy when he won her every prize in the park? XD

[And snow-soaked Rydia returns home, dumping her cloak, scarf and boots in a wet pile in the corner. She resurfaces minutes later, rubbing her hair dry with a towel. Upon noting that frown, she angles over to him and raises an eyebrow.]

AHAHAHA and yet it is STILL NOT ENOUGH.

[The frown reverses itself as Rydia speaks to him, though it peaks at a forced smile.] Nothing that ought concern you.

GET HER A DRAGON NEXT, MAYBE THAT WILL MAKE HER HAPPY.

[Rydia notices that forced smile and that eyebrow stays raised. She remembers the times Cecil tried to shield her from stuff, so she can be forgiven for assuming it's happening again.]

One of the other inhabitants, from the sound of it. [A misleading answer is better than no answer at all, considering how he'd like to avoid getting another "Kefka is a bad man" speech, thanks.]

[Kain is still angsting hanging around for now, but he is indeed planning to take off on another extended brooding trip in the near future. He's on his way to do just that as he happens to wander by Cecil.]

[Well HEY THERE BFF! He sees you over there trying to sneak out! Cecil's been meaning to chat with you.] Ah,Kain! Before you scurry off again, might I obtain a scant moment of your time? [NO ESCAPE. :D]

[It's as if the universe is conspiring against him, because EVERY TIME he's tried to go off something delays him. But he pauses, nods and then approaches Cecil.]

[He's got his journal at the ready, since Kain's thoughts would probably require more than the usual gesturing.] Regarding that Kefka gentleman... Where do you stand?
