I think it's very cool that you're doing this. I would like to help. Maybe we should try the common ground? I could ask if they're interested? Let me know what I can do to help.

Yes please, by all means. A venue is a huge part of what we need. We can supply all the music, meaning it would be a dance night and between the both of us, we have plenty of talented DJ friends. House music, especially.

Shannon, what, if anything, could we do at your mp3 night for a one time thing?

I have a couple friends who work for the Boston Phoenix, I'm wondering if I could get them involved in any way to help promotion. Because that would obviously help bigtime.

possible themes (for non creative people)

songs with girl names in the title
songs about food
songs that have counting in them (1 2 3 4 take the elevator to the hotel yorba)
songs about fucking.
cover songs.
punk rock versions of 80s songs
acoustic versions of rock songs
songs about water
songs about breaking up
instrumental tracks
accapella tracks
remixes only
songs that mention another band, and then a song by that band that mentions another band, so on and so forth
songs about cities
songs about animals
80's #1 hits
songs about monkeys

also if anyone wants me to cover any song for their mix, i can do that.

Hahaha! Yes, I can do dancey stuff that doesn't involve either of those. You talking about dancey rock? LCD Soundsystem, Out Hud, !!!, etc.?

weezercrazed September 1 2005, 14:21:22 UTC
ooo I want dancey rock like LCD Soundsystem!

Ok! That's an easy enough theme if that's what you want. Having a theme within a subgenre of music like that might be a bit difficult to complete, but keeping things in a specific vein is obviously doable.
