I thought it was just that I wasn't terribly used to being around children, but...there's something strange about these ones, even odder than hearing 'Mama' from a child that isn't mine.
Indeed. The way they act, it seems so... mechanical, I guess? It's hard to explain.
It doesn't help that they don't seem to listen to me when I tell them I'm not their real mama, or that I'm not really married to the man who lives here.
Though they can be a bit concerning as long as they are taken care of and their needs met properly they are not too difficult to deal with. The most uneasy thing about them is when those you have come to know become them and stay that way.

I've not tried telling them I'm not their real mother. I doubt it would be helpful at all.
