This is a ramble pretending to be a fic.

But first, is there anyone out there who has a good handle on body development? Can guess weights from pictures or age and height? Can work backward from current build through younger ages? Or knows someone who does? Can it be done? I know all about the growth charts and BMI calculator, but I don't feel that is answering my question. It's ( Read more... )

This hurts so good, omg. I've actually sat here just now and gone all teary-eyed because she just loves him so much and it's so so true, she is the only one who's never left him. It felt almost Velveteen Rabbit-ish to me for some reason, but wow. It's lovely and hurty and I adore it so.

Cool. That's kind of what I was aiming for. She didn't, but maybe she could. They do love each other so much.

And, you know, the Velveteen Rabbit was kind of hurty, wasn't it? The poor rabbit went through all this hardship and then only became real when he got thrown away.

I've always found children's stuff mildly disturbing. The lullaby, "Rock-a-Bye Baby," the song "Little Bunny FuFu." Alice in Wonderland scared the hell out of me. What sick mind thought that would make a good child's cartoon is beyond me. I had those kind of nightmares, I didn't need Disney bringing them to life.

A lot of kid's stories are actually really disturbing if you think about it, especially if you read the original versions. The Disney versions are watered down so much, but I agree, even Disney's Alice was pretty freaky. But yeah, kid's poems and stories and stuff are creepy at times.

Just a few days ago, my friend and I were talking about how parents shouldn't blame us for internalizing the values these things teach. How many stories did I read, or watch, as a child about an orphan making their own way in the world and getting swept away by prince charming in the end? Was it any surprise that my friends and I ran away from school to be orphans? LOL

And what about the evil step-family phenomena? Talk about teaching unwholesome family values. LOL

Thank you. Busting hearts is my joy in life. :)

the almost abusive relationship between Dean and the Impala

Yes! Because I didn't realize it at first, but when it was written, she's like the abused wife, hoping that, in spite of all evidence, she will get her fairly tale eventually.

Thanks for the science_beta tip. I'll try that.
