You've all already heard about Aaron Hall. But have you seen the headline news today: "Nicole Kidman joins the ranks of actresses over forty." Important news when people are being brutally murdered ( Read more... )

Very sad and disturbing. Makes me sick to my stomach.

Last week, CNN devoted an entire hour to the breaking news that Paris Hilton had gone to the infirmary.

There have been airplanes flying support banners for that bitch.

Humanity disgusts me. As if it weren't bad enough that these horrible events happen, but nobody cares, either? Paris Hilton's jail trauma is worse than this guy's murder?

I'm done. My goal in life is now to get rich and take care of my own. I'm through with wanting to save a world that doesn't want it.

YOu know, I hadn't heard/read a thing about Aaron Hall until you pointed it out. I cannot describe with words accurately how horrified
I am.
I say to my mother on a regular basis that "I hate people" and she tells me "Oh, honey, you don't mean that."
I really do sometimes.
HAL should just shut the pod bay doors and be done with it all.
Thanks for sharing the link. It has given me things to think about that I really haven't since Matthew Sheppard. Not that hate crimes and human stupidity don't continually surface, I just haven't looked at it to this degree in a long time. Thank you, thank you.

The other person I mentioned this to hadn't even heard about Matthew Sheppard. Her reaction was, "I wonder what kind of drugs are involved." She thinks all the world's ill can be blamed on drugs, except for marijuana - the one drug she has personal experience with and insists is harmless. I'm all, "Sorry, but sometimes people just suck."

But yeah, it did make me think. I especially loved the point that even if Hall wasn't gay, the idea that it's a defense speaks to how far we haven't come.

I give up on humanity. You can't make people care. I'm going to crawl into bed, pull the covers over my head, cuddle my cat, and hope I die quickly in a nuclear blast or whatever end of the world event comes.

The bed and cat thing sounds fun (And I wish I had my cat here now) but as for the rest, DON'T DO IT! There are horrible people in the world, and they do horrible things and make the news. But I honestly believe that most people are good!

I do too, it's just so hard to remember sometimes. My cat makes me feel better though.

I hadn't heard about this. *sigh*

Also, Matthew Shepard? Haven't heard about him either.

Whoops. I, of all people, should stop assuming others keep up with the news better than I do ( ... )

And his mother, Judy Shepard, is still working to make her son's death mean something.

I read about Hall a couple nights ago and then couldn't sleep half the night. And maybe that's why celeb news is preferred. Still, if someone can experience it, seems I can at least pay enough respect to hear about it.

This may not help with the depression but I do suspect humans are an especially violent species that made it this far through thuggery and luck. But we can do beautiful things too.
