Plagiarism Quandry

So, I'm cleaning out my old files and I find a fanfic in my "Writing" folder (generally used for my own writing - not stories I betaed, but I am terrible about keeping things in their place) that I can't remember writing. What about posting the first paragraph, or two paragraphs, with a subject line like, "Is this your story?" If you post it in your own journal, and it belongs to someone else, hopefully that person is still on your f-list, and could let you know if it looks like one of theirs.

It is an odd dilemma.

Maybe you could post it as a comment to this post, so people would have context for it.

Okay, this is going to sound crazy but I have exactly the same problem... I have this paragraph that totally sounds like something I'd write but it's in italics at the top of a doc. I was obviously using it for tone, but I can't tell if I planned on using it in the fic eventually or if I lifted it off of something else and I was just going for the same tone.

Hmmm... What to do? I don't know what to tell you. It seems like yours is a completed fic? I guess it would make sense to post a snippet or something to ask if someone recognizes it. Gosh, I don't know... It seems so crazy to ask other people, "Did I write this?" LOL

Sounds very familiar. I am usually careful to keep enough for a credit, but it could easily happen that I don't because I'm lazy that day. I think I will post a snippet.
