In Which Everything Exploded But I Fixed It Before You Noticed

So uh, Nano.

That happened.

I won, by the way.

So.... Yeah, that's about accurate for this year's Nano, actually. Oh, I wrote a LITTLE every day, but it was often to the tune of a few lines and thus not really worth getting out the website to update.

And man, that last weekend was a BLAST.

THINGS I LEARNED:
-Job takes more out of me than I like. I can crank out 700-800 words without too much trouble, but a thousand on a work night is pushing it and more on a work night ever happened. I'm displeased that the job costs me this much energy that more than a thousand words is pushing it, but I can't let that be an excuse. Because job or not, I did complete 50k last month. And while I'd love a less mind consuming job, well, it's not really going to happen right now. Any job that requires less brain power would be a step down in terms of rank, benefits, and pay. Alternatively, I could work fewer hours at a job... but I don't want to take that step until I'm more financially stable than I am. Plus the job I'm at needs me there full time. So, basic fact of the matter is, job takes more out of me than I like, I make angry faces at it, then I get back to writing. Not the best deal, but you know, I've made worse!
-But man can I crank on words when I'm not looking. Note Thanksgiving. I went and hung out with my family all afternoon and turkey coma'd AND somehow managed 8k. I do not know how this works. But I like it.
-I found a novel! I was wondering where the beginning would be, but it turns out that the main character is over there and then it suddenly all fits into place and I can write in that world now! It's exhilarating and maybe a little terrifying at the same time.
-This would be less complicated if I hadn't started a DIFFERENT novel this week.
-I'm not really sure why I keep doing this to myself, I've still got the last book to finish whyyyyy?
-I also don't know why I'm still talking in bullet points.

I'd do a break down of what stories got how much of my Nano, but man, I'm feeling lazy. Suffice it to say, there's 50k more in my writing folder and it's not all useful, but some of it is, and some of it is useful in the way that it made me figure out other things, but the important point is that it's been done.

SO SPEAKING OF DOING, Nano lead me to a nifty little site: http://750words.com/

It's a writing site, it tracks how many words you write and how long it takes you to write them. The goal is 750 words, and you get points for completing said goal and for making an unbroken chain of writing. Writing is private, you control if people can see your stats, your writing, or nothing at all. Log on is done through google account, yahoo, or facebook. It's pretty simple, but a useful tool. And one I shall be abusing.

My new goal is 750 words every night.

For a year. Starting... yesterday! Because if you have to wait till New Years to have a resolution, you weren't going to keep it anyway.

A few more things before we're done:

THE TIME CAPSULE MEME

And Drabble Requests are still open, so drop me a line if you want something. I'm trying to write like hell, so suggestions are fun.

Book meme resumes... whenever.

man bras, nanowrimo, the hell am i doing now?, adventures in storytelling, final standing, life, writing, job
