[It's well after the time that Selphie's been falling asleep for most of this week but thanks to all of the wonderful experiment-induced drama, sleep is escaping her. Her eyes are puffy from crying and the streaks from her tears are still present. She's tired and she knows it. Everytime she closes her eyes however, there are visions of Cecil stabbing people for not coming home to dinner.
Her eyes droop shut and it looks like she's finally going to sleep only for the visions to snap her wide awake with a start.]

[Despite all the trauma, Ceodore's remained vigilant about checking on Selphie. While she's snoozing he thinks, he'll reach over to pick up her journal. She needs to be resting, not crying over stupid insanity coming from the thing.]

[Selphie's spirit has broken again as she stares blankly at a particular entry before the tears start falling again and splatter across the paper. Those pesky tear ducts and their response to emotional distress. Eventually she shoves the journal off the bed and rolls over to curl into a ball and sob.
Good thing it's just before bed and the journal miraculously remains open on the entry should one find the girl beside herself in sadness.]

[Ceodore doesn't really see or pay attention to the journal. All he knows is that Selphie is sobbing her heart out and he can't stand watching her hurt. Without saying a word, he sits down on the bed, reaches over and pulls her into his lap to hold her tight.]

[The bed is warm and Selphie's slept like the dead in total comfort before she stirs and slowly sits up. She rubs at her eyes sleepily before looking around curiously at her location. Her head at hit the pillow at the clinic and that was it as she slowly realizes that she's in the safety of the apartment.]
Ceo...?
[She knows you're around there somewhere fretting about when she's going to wake up when she notices she's in her favourite pajamas and smiles softly as she runs her hands over the familiar fabric. Yeah, she knows you were behind that one Princeling but she'll let it go because she's just happy you're there looking after her.]

I'm here.
[He'd just come back from getting a glass of water in fact, which he sets down on the beside table, then moves to sit by Selphie, lightly collecting her hand.]
How do you feel? Should I get Mother?
[Because Rosa is still the best healer in the world.]

[At some point, Fusoya will be teleporting over to Ceodore's apartment. Not directly into it, but just outside it, so that he won't be intruding too much, and so that he can at least knock on the door to give some warning.]

[Upon returning from the drafts, Cecil shared with Grune that his son's birthday was imminent, and her response to that was both typical and immediate: She should bake him a cake!
And that's exactly what she did. It served as a good distraction from the news she had received shortly after speaking with Cecil, of the death of a friend. And trying to remember where Ceodore lived distracted her further still.
But now she's finally here! She shifts the cake to one hand to knock on his door. The cake looks (and should taste--thank you, Fenimore) delicious: a light, fluffy white cake with lots and lots of green icing.

[Ceodore's still struggling with being a walking bundle of conflicting emotions at the moment. On one hand, he's still exhilarated at finally being acknowledged as an adult by his father, and yet on the other hand... Selphie is still not speaking to him. Not that he really sees what her problem is with pictures of pretty girls. He half suspects it's one of those girl things that they just don't talk about, especially when that time rolls around.
But when he opens the door, he's in one of the more low moments. Getting the cold shoulder from the love of his life over something inconsequential has his wondering where he's gone wrong. He nods politely to Grune, but his typically easy smiles are all but gone for now.]

[She looks at him curiously.]
They didn't tell you that healing magic isn't working?

I just thought you needed rest.
[She can have all the hugs she wants now.]

Ceodore. Might I have some of your time?

Sure, come in! Selphie's napping.
[Does he need to wake her? She's still recovering and needs her rest, but if it's important...]

I see that you are still affected by the loss of your mother's blood. Have you noticed any effects of it?

Nothing bad anyway.
...
...oh. I uh... kinda hit Frey a lot harder than I intended.
[Never let it be said that Ceodore's not as truthful as the day is long.]

Maybe this will make up for the porn?]

Lady Grune, what a nice surprise.
[Wait... is that cake?]

Hello, Ceodore! Happy birthday!

[He accepts the cake and bobs his head, although the kindness is enough to lift his spirits just a little.]
I... I'm grateful.
