(no subject)
So they announced the new cast of the new Star Wars movie today. I'm really not sure how to feel. I'm more than a little dissapointed that they didn't wait until May the 4th. I mean really people, so close.
I'm glad to see Princess Leia, Han, and Luke back. And Bill Weasley! (Really, I'd only really heard of Gollum and Bill Weasley in the new cast, so we can just leave it at that. It's really kind of sub that there's only one new woman in the cast (though if she's playing Leia's daughter she looks perfect for the part)...I mean, really?
I'm very upset that they've decided to jettison the EU. Do what you gotta do, I guess. But when I started getting into the films...what, 20 years ago in Jr. High- not that I hadn't seen them before, but that's when I really got into the movies and all. This was before I had access to the internet, so there wasn't fanfic, just these books, and I loved and cherished them. And now that they don't exist, I am sad. No Mara Jade? No Jacen, Jania, or Anakin? I lost interest by the time of the New Jedi Order, but still.
(A part of me still isn't over the fact that the line from the Novelization of ROTJ about Ben being Owen's brother didn't end up being true in the prequels.)
In conclusion, I am old.
