By the way

I don't really use LJ much anymore. I still have love for it, and feel bad about neglecting it, but I do most of my posting on Facebook nowadays, which is funny because I don't have any affection for FB; it's just useful and convenient for me right now. Eventually, I'll move on to yet another site for most of my casual journaling stuff. It's the ( Read more... )

FB is pretty harmless actually. It's just not very well designed or maintained. And for some stupid reason there is no calendar feature to enable someone to look up postings by date or subject line etc. the way every other site like LJ or MySpace allows.

What sorts of policies of FB do you object to? I'm sure I object to some of theirs too, but I don't know if they apply to me or my account there. I have my privacy settings set pretty high.

Sunflower is probably immortal. She will probably outlive us all.

Chatting? Well I'm usually logged into Yahoo Messenger and MySpace Messenger when I'm home. As for posting stuff, I've been on Facebook for the most part...

yes, lj has turned into something of a wasteland... tumbleweeds blowing by. it's sad, since although i post a lot on facebook, lj is a safer place to spill my guts. esp since i've already created so many filters here. so even if no one reads my posts, i'll still be using LJ.

LJ was vibrant when it was a current reflection of my real-life social life, i.e. friends finding one another on there, people meeting at clubs and finding out each other has LJs, etc. Eventually your friends list peaks, and then it coasts for a while, and then over time, people change, they drift apart, they get bored and move to something else, or they become boring or lame, etc. And so your LJ world dies down until it reaches a new "eternal twilight" equilibrium. It will happen to Facebook eventually too.

I've slowly neglected LJ as well, but can't seem to fully abandon it! As for Facebook, un-tagging myself from awful photos is bliss...but that news feed of status updates sometimes makes my head want to explode.
