"Hey Yunho!"
Yunho looked up from his laptop, when he heard his name.
Seeing his best friend, and cousin, Yoochun, at the door of his in home office, he raised his hand and rubbed his face. He felt the five o'clock shadow growing and it wasn't even noon yet.
"Yeah, what's up Yoochun?" Yunho leaned back and stretched his arms over his head. Then he moved his head in a slow circle, trying to relax his neck and shoulder muscles.
Being a top thriller novelist was hard. The pressure to put out another hit was weighing on him every minute of the day.
Yunho looked at Yoochun expectantly, waiting for him to answer.
"There's a gentleman by the name of Lee Seung Chu here to see you. Say's it's very important." Yoochun lifted an eyebrow at my exclaimed, "Lee Seung Chu! What's he doing here? I haven't seen him in probably three years. If I had known he was stopping by I would have shaved." Just as the words left Yunho's mouth a quiet chuckle was heard from the hallway and a white haired man appeared in his doorway next to Yoochun.
"Jung Yunho. You don't have to shave on my account. Isn't that one of the perks of working from home?" The man entered the room when beckoned by Yunho, followed by a younger man behind him. A much younger man.
Yoochun looked at Yunho over Seung Chu's shoulder and smiled, his eyes going to the small guy. I shook my head at him and made a shooing motion, telling him to leave.
"Please, come in Mr. Lee. Have a seat, make yourself comfortable." Yunho gestured to the low-seated leather chair in front of his desk.
"Just give me one moment please." Seung Chu walked over to the man standing in the middle of the room, waiting for Seung Chu to join him. Seung Chu reached out and placed his hand on the man's arm, "Jae, could you please go over there and sit on the couch? Please wear your ear buds and listen to your music. This young man and I have business to discuss and I'm sure you'll just find it boring." Jae nodded and settled himself on the couch, sticking his ear buds in his ears and turning on his music.
Seung Chu turned back to Yunho with a small smile, "Now where were we? Oh, yes. I have something of great importance I need to discuss over with you." Seung Chu sat down in the chair and leaned back, his kind brown eyes on Yunho.
Yunho was looking at the boy sitting on his couch. He had not been able to take his eyes off him since he got a good look at him. His short black hair framed his face. His eye's were big and expressive, his lips full and red. He was, simply put, the most beautiful man he had ever seen.
Now, he dragged his eyes away, bringing his attention back to his guest.
Seung Chu looked solemn and Yunho frowned, "What can I do for you, Mr. Lee?"
Seung Chu laughed, "Well, first of all you can drop the Mr. Lee, it's just Seung Chu for you dear boy." Then Seung Chu got serious.
"I'm dying, Yunho." Yunho's smile dropped, "What?! What do you mean your dying?"
Seung Chu leaned forward a bit in his seat, "I have cancer. It's spread throughout my body. The doctors, all three of them, have said I just have two maybe three weeks left to live. If I'm lucky, I have that long."
Yunho leaned back in his chair. He just couldn't believe that this man was dying. He's been around in his family for years. He was his father's best friend from school and they had kept in touch through out the years. "I'm sorry to hear that Seung Chu. I wish that there was something that I could do for you." I muttered as I glanced at the guy on the other side of the room. Just as I was about to turn my head away he looked up and our eyes met. He quickly looked back down at his MP3 player as a light red tint stained his cheeks. I hear a slight cough and jerked back to Seung Chu.
"So, tell me Yunho. What do you think of my wife?" Yunho sucked in a breath, his head going back to the guy on the couch. "Your wife?" I managed to squeak out.
Seung Chu rose from his chair, going over to the window next to Yunho's desk. "Yes, he's my wife." Yunho controlled his breathing, "What did you do to deserve someone like him?"
Seung Chu half turned from the window, sliding his hands into his dress pants. "I did nothing to get him. His bastard father sold him to me, along with his two brothers. Jaejoong. That's his name, Jaejoong."
Yunho signed, "His fathers name is Jaejoong?" Seung Chu laughed, "No. My wife's name is Jaejoong. You never did say, what do you think of my wife?"
Yunho gazed at Seung Chu, "He listens well and seems to be very well mannered. Why?"
The older man went back to the chair and sat, "I have a business deal to discuss with you Yunho and it concerns my wife."
Yunho tapped his fingers on the edge of his desk; Seung Chu had his full attention now, "What kind of business deal?"
"Well, as I said I'm dying. That means that Jae will be alone. He's never really been alone. He's always had his father, and when not his father his younger brother's Junsu and Kibum whom has always been there for him. Then he married me and became my companion."
Yunho interrupted, "Your companion. So you are saying that you two don't have a regular relationship, a traditional marriage?"
Seung Chu nodded, suddenly feeling all his sixty plus years, " I'll be quit frank with you, no we don't share a bed, if that's what you're asking. I have never touched him; he's pure as new fallen snow, untouched, and unspoiled. As far as I know he's not been with anyone, be it man or woman. I think of him as a grandson and could never touch him, it just turns me off." Seung Chu studied the young man before him, and felt certain that he was the best for his Jaejoong.
"In agreeing to marry Jaejoong, everything in my will go to you. All the businesses except for the restaurant, that will go to Jae. He has a love for the culinary arts. He, along with his two brothers attend the Seoul Culinary Academy, which is being financed by me. That is another condition of the will, if you accept this offer, Jae's two brothers, Kim Kibum and Kim Junsu will continue attending school paid by you fully. They also live with Jae, all their living expenses provided for by me. I treat all three like my grandsons and spoil them, even though they are well-behaved gentlemen and have never taken advantage of my generosity and me. They have lived with us since we were married; they will continue living with Jae until they marry. That is all written up in the will also."
I glance at the young guy sitting on the couch and signed. If I marry this boy, I would be a rich man and it would also mean that he would be MY wife.
Seung Chu cleared his throat and I bring my attention back to him.
"Also, you will get all the estates, except for the villa by the sea. That will go to Jae. He goes there for half of the year. During the winter. Why the winter? I have no idea, but he likes to walk along the beach. That house also has a small stable where Arabian thoroughbreds are kept. Jae loves horseback riding and will go every morning before breakfast. All this plus all the monetary values that I have will be yours. All the cars, all the jewelry including everything else."
Seung Chu looks over to Jae muttering, "I just want him protected. He's fragile, and he needs someone that he can lean on. He's a good boy. He has never complained about being married to me. He would have fulfilled his wifely duties if I had allowed it. He came to my bedroom on our wedding night, intent on giving himself to me. I could tell he was nervous, but, I sent him back to his room." Mr. Lee turned back to me, " I should think that since you are a normal healthy man that you would want to consummate your wedding night with him."
I shook my head, "Not if it's not something that he doesn't want. I don't force myself on anyone." I glanced back over to Jae, wondering if I would actually be able to hold myself back from him. "So, you guys sleep in different rooms then?"
Seung Chu nodded his once, "Yes. His room is just down the hall from mine. You will probably want him in the same bed with you. He will come willingly; it's in his gentle manner to do what is expected of him."
Mr. Lee smiled, "I guess you'll need time to think this over. Please, don't take to long. I need to talk with Jae, if you accept."
I frowned, "What are you going to tell him? Will he just accept being handed over to someone else? What if he wants to be on his own?"
Seung Chu signed, looking sad at what he had to say, "I'll make it clear that he will have no choice in the matter. I will make him understand that he and his family will be out on the streets if he doesn't comply with the will. See, I will have stipulations put in the will. He marries you, if you agree to this, or he looses everything. He'll be mad for a while, but when he realizes that what's been done is for the best for him, he will get over it. He'll come to accept you as his husband and protector." Seung Chu stood, "I will be waiting for your call, Yunho."
I stood. I had already thought about it, "I'll accept. I will marry him as stated in your will. I will be good to him. You have no worries there."
I reached Mr. Lee's side and shook his hand. Mr. Lee gazed at Jae, "Just take good care of him. Make him want for nothing, and he will be good to you also."
Seung Chui dropped his hand to his side and looked at me, "Just out of curiosity. Why did you agree so quickly? I would have given you time to think this over."
I glanced over to the boy in the corner, "You asked me what I think of your wife. Well, to tell the truth, without you getting offended about it. I find him very attractive. He's the prettiest man I've ever seen. He's a very good addition to the money that I would get from this deal." I looked over to Seung Chu and see his face harden, "No, don't get me wrong. The money and your wife isn't the only reason, even though they are very good reasons. You also happen to be my fatherʼs best friend. A person I trust. I know you wouldn't have me marry your wife without thinking that I'm going to be good enough for him. Not without knowing if I would treat him right. I thank you for your trust in me to see to his comfort and safety."
Seung Chu signed, "I thank you for your honesty Yunho. I have to tell you though, Jae's set in his ways. If you try and introduce a different lifestyle to him, you may have a battle on your hands. He only has a few people that he opens up to. Other wise he's pretty much a recluse. You won't find him going to clubs or bars. He doesn't take to strangers very well. In fact, soon, I'll tell him about this arrangement so he can get used to the idea of you, get used to the idea of marrying you."
Yunho tilted his head as he glanced over to the corner once again, "I throw the occasional dinner parties for my colleagues. He would have to learn how to mingle and be social. Other than that, I see no problem with that."
I turned and looked at the older man, then a question popped up in my mind, "I hope this isn't tactful, but, I'm curious also. How long after" I paused for a moment wondering if I should put the question out, "How long will I have to marry him after..." I didn't know how to finish the question but, thankfully Seung Chu had an idea of what I wanted to know. "You want to know how you have to marry him after I pass away. I gave you three weeks to get married. Like I said I want Jaejoong settled as soon as possible."
Seung Chu sighed a deep breath, "I also need to ask one more thing of you, Yunho. After my death, take Jaejoong and his brothers to the seaside villa for a month. I have already arranged everything with the school. They will make up work and tests when they get back. Take them so they can grieve in peace. I know this one place will give Jae comfort."
Seung Chu moved over to Jae and tapped him on his arm.
I watched as the boy removed his ear buds and smiled gently at his husband.
Standing, Jae, looped his arm with Seung Chu.
Seung Chu turned one last time to me, "You will be notified when it happens. I have made all arrangements with my lawyer." At my nod, he left with my future wife.
