“Lady Sialeeds.”

“Mother.”

“But, milady…”

“Mother or you won’t have your allowance for this month.”

“I know how to survive a month without any, milady, now please…”

“Mother or I told Gizel that you’re being insolent.”

That finally silenced Dolph. He stared at his master’s wife... Lady Sialeeds, with his master, Sir Gizel; had adopted him to be a member of their family. Precisely, their son.

Actually, Dolph didn’t expect Gizel to forgive him, especially after killing the lady of Godwin family. Not only taking him to his care, Gizel also had been very nice to him. The last part maybe because Sialeeds’ threat of ‘if you don’t treat the poor boy well, I’ll not treat you well in the future.’

As a matter of fact, Sialeeds didn’t need to give threatening remark to Gizel. Maybe because for the ex-killer, Sialeeds’ wishes was Gizel’s command. Gizel ended up very close to the boy. He did not stop in caring for him, he even started to give Dolph his fatherly love. It was more than Dolph ever wanted…

He worshipped Gizel; he would do anything for his master.

Few years later, his master finally proposed his fiancée into marriage with a ‘let’s get married but if only you agreed that we can take Dolph as our son.’

Sialeeds cursed that Gizel had been insane that time, but she then was convinced that she was the one who started to convince Gizel to "give Dolph a more than special treatment" in the first place. She actually didn’t mind to have a teenage son soon after her marriage with Gizel.

A week after being adopted, Dolph still called her with ‘milady’ and Gizel with ‘master.’ Nothing could annoy her as much, except when Gizel was being playful and picking her nerves.

Sialeeds had actually been the one who asked Gizel to wait for Dolph until he opened up and welcomed them as a part of his life, but she lost her patience in the road because of the little teenage devil in front of her. If she complained to Gizel, Gizel would surely come with a winning mockery about how the royal family member licked her own spit.

That was one of the 27 different kinds of true and most-infuriating-Gizels.

In front of him, Dolph looked at her with a slight confused expression. “I’m sorry for being rude, but I do not need new clothes,” and adding with a resolution, “milady.”

If she hadn’t known Dolph’s characters beforehand, she would have slapped his pale cheeks. “Okay, I won’t buy you clothes, but do me a favor, Dolph.”

“Anything, milady.”

“Stop calling me with honorifics. It’s killing me, if you haven’t realized it yet. I’m your mother.”

“But milady…”

“Dolph!” Sialeeds raised her voice and glared at him. “Please.”

Dolph stared at her with no expression.

It didn’t work at all. Sialeeds took a deep breath. She thought she wouldn’t meet anyone more nerve-wracking other than Gizel. But now there he was, their first son, in a complete package called ‘I can make you stressful even without trying.’

She didn’t want to say the next words, but she had no other way to force Dolph for sincerely calling her with ‘mother’. Sialeeds just hoped that Gizel wouldn’t know that she had done what she about to do.

“Dolph, now I want to give you a mission. You must do it perfectly. I don’t want to see any openings. We must pretend that we are real mother and son. You must call me ‘mother’ and act like my real son. If you don’t do it right, you’re a failure to me and Gizel.”

Dolph straightened his back. The words launched smoothly into his brain.

Gizel didn’t feel happy at all, especially at the last two weeks after he and Sialeeds adopted Dolph. He didn’t realize it at first because Gizel himself was too busy with senate works. It had been so apparent at the last few days, but he didn’t dare to ask anything to Sialeeds. He didn’t need tips from her about taming Dolph. That would hurt his pride, hard.

A knock to the door. Gizel voiced a permission to enter.

“Excuse me, master.”

Gizel winced at the last single word. “Come here, Dolph.”

When his adpoted son was few steps in front of his working desk, Gizel talked straight to the point. “What are you thinking about? Did you not consider me as Sialeeds’ husband at all?”

“I’m sorry, sir?”

“That's what I meant, Dolph. Why are you still keeping formal distance and calling me with ‘master’ and ‘sir’ while you were acting so intimate to Sialeeds and calling her ‘mother’ at the same time?”

“Because mother told me to do so, so I cannot nothing but to obey.”

Gizel raised one eyebrow, “so, if I told you do so to, would you really do it?”

“Of course, sir.”

This time, his two eyebrows met in confusion. “Would you from now on, Dolph, stop calling me with ‘master’ and start using ‘father instead?”

“If you ordered to do so, sir.” Dolph answered, “Your wish is my command.”

At the last replies, Gizel then realize what was going wrong. He would talk to Sialeeds about it soon. Very soon.

Dolph listened from behind the closed doors. He could hear each one of their parents quietly argued and barked at each other with carefully selected sarcasms. He smiled slightly when the quarrel became more intense.

It wouldn’t be so long until Sialeeds gave up with a desperate cry and attempt to leave the room, only to be chased by Gizel to the bed. Gizel’s soothing, then, would be the only one that could calm her down.

It was he had been plotting and how it supposed to be. The last part of his plan would be realized in a mere minutes.

Even before being adopted, Dolph had been under Gizel and Sialeeds' care for almost half of his life. He knew that the two enjoyed themselves the most in the dispute like this. He couldn’t think of giving better wedding gift for them, for giving him the greatest opportunity ever, to be their child.
