Awesome. I must also disclaim that I wrote this in fifteen minutes in order to enter it for a challenge before Glee came on, so I knew I was missing out a whole bunch of good points, so thank you for doing the legwork! I think insomnia suits you. Maybe I should direct everyone who reads the entry downwards and say, yes, continuation in the comments...
Your point about Jayne 'letting River be' was one of the main things that I regretted not posting immediately after I did it. I think it's also tied to the fact that they're equally 'weapon-like' and matched more evenly in terms of combat, so the threat they pose to each other is less. They can both accept a life where violence and death is going to play a large part.
