so today has been an okay day. we had manfred class and watched a weird movie with some really messed up subtitles. first, somebody said 'sehr gut' which means very good and it got translated into 'goody-goody'. then someone said potato but the translator had a dan quayle problem and wrote potatoe. also, at one point, one of the characters hung up on somebody, but the subtitles said 'hung in'. that one was so weird that it took me a while to figure out what they were talking about. i thought the movie was okay, although it didn't really have an ending. yeah.
after class i dropped film off at dm, so that will create excitingness on wednesday. woo hoo.
this afternoon i started to work on my paper-of-questionable-length. i call it this because i really am not sure how long it is supposed to be. at the beginning of the quarter, everybody was supposed to write a 15 page paper. then everybody except me decided to do a second month of intensive german, so manfred reduced the paper to 8 pages. this is where the confusion starts. you see, i am still kind of on the original plan, so in theory i should have to write a 15 page paper, but to make up for my not taking a second month of intensive, i have been writing 2 response papers every week. now, in my mind this kind of equals out and i should only have to write an 8 page paper, but you never know what is going on in manfred's head. i think what will happen is that i will just write my paper and it will be however long it is going to be and then i will turn it in. right now it is one page long. yay me. i really don't want to write it but i know that if i just sit down and work on it it will be okay. bleh.
in other manfred news, manfred has decided that we don't have to do journal entries for this week, so that is good. that means that the only things i have to do this week are my paper and this super ghetto critique of a cafe for my german class. ooh, and my last german class is on wednesday, which makes me happy. it actually isn't the last german class, but it is the last one i'm going to go to because i most likely won't be in town for the last two. so there, iki. i still get a certificate though, which will be super cool because then i will have two certificates showing that i passed mittelstufe 1a. i rock. well, not really, but you know how that is.
oh, in other exciting news, i almost got trapped in the computer room today. it was exciting. you see, for some reason they installed a new door knob on the door to the computer room, one that makes it so you have to have your keys to open your door. this is a good thing, i guess, but when they were installing it they took the doorknob off of the inside of the door, closed the door, and installed half of the new door handle on the outside. once they did this, they couldn't open the door from the outside and the people inside couldn't open the door either. the janitor man finally had to come to the window and give the door knob to us so that we could open the door. it was highly exciting.
okay, well i'm off to go semi work on my paper. yeah.
