so yes, i am home. i have actually been home since thursday, but i haven't felt like updating since then. yeah.
so let's see. wednesday night i left vienna at 9:20 on an overnight train to berlin. going to the train station was kind of exciting because charli, aaron, cindy, and joanna came with me. not only did they come to the station, though, they also sat on the train with me until right before it left. this was a good thing for them, though, because i was in an air-conditioned compartment and it was much cooler in there than it was outside.
the train ride was alright. i was with a nice middle-aged man who i said a couple of sentences to, but for most of the ride we both slept. i got about 5 hours of sleep on the train, which i was happy about. wait, maybe a little bit more, i'm not sure. i stopped sleeping at 6 ish though, because that is when the train got in to leipzig which is where the man got off. then a weird woman got on and at the next stop these two really chatty women got on the train and talked non-stop to berlin. i wasn't really paying attention to their conversation, but they were talking about work and work-related injuries or something weird. yeah.
i got in to berlin at 8:20, i think. i had no clue how to get to the airport, so i asked the train man and he was really helpful. he also helped me get my luggage out of the train and onto the platform. yay. then i walked the five blocks from the train station to the u-bahn station and i took the train to the stop i was supposed to, got out there, walked a block and a half to the bus stop and miraculously arrived at the stop at the same time as the bus to the airport. the bus ride was really short and then i was at the airport. the airport was a lot smaller than what i was expecting, but berlin does have like 3 airports or something, so i guess it didn't need to be super big. anyway, i checked in, got some food, and bought some simpsons comics in german. woo hoo. i sat around the airport for a while and then, at 1pm, i finally left for copenhagen.
when i got in to copenhagen i discovered that my flight back to seattle was delayed for a few hours. it was supposed to leave at 3:45 but instead it left at 6. because of the delay, the airline gave everyone on the flight 50 whatever the local currency is. i used it to buy a fresh-squeezed orange juice. it was good. then i sat around for a while and finally i got on the plane.
the plane ride was okay. i was sitting next to a weird czech man, but we didn't talk much and he seemed pretty nice. i watched harry potter and ocean's eleven. yeah.
i got in to seattle at 7pm seattle time and didn't get harassed by customs, which is always a good thing. then i came home and spent some time with my cats and my parents, and then i hung out with people for a while. yeah.
so since thursday, i've helped cara move a bit, gone with jina to her industrial piercing, gone to the b&o with erin, jina, jerry, emily, and jordan, and gone to alderwood with cara. oh, and i went to my counseling appointment, which was good, i guess.
oh. so the front desk man at the dorm was really weird, right? like, some days he hated the world and wouldn't let you buy laundry tokens, but other days he loved you. so on the day that i checked out, the front desk man was having a reallllly good day. as i came up to the counter, he was standing outside smoking, talking to people. i stood there for a few minutes and then he noticed me and came over to the counter. as he was walking he said to me "hey, baby" and then said "hey, lady". it was bizarre. later on charli showed up and he started speaking to charli in italian which she obviously did not understand. it was a very weird last experience to have with the front desk man.
