Personality:
Daiyousei is, at her core, a child. She's just a child that's had a lot of responsibility foisted onto her, not unlike the eldest sibling of a group of kids that have been left to take care of themselves. She tries very, very hard to be mature and responsible, and, though she doesn't always succeed, she does well for someone who is really nothing more than a ten-year-old girl. She has a strong nurturing, protective instinct--in other words, she's the kind of girl that gives off the impression that someday, when she's all grown up, she'll be a great mother.
However, despite her relative maturity, she still has her moments. Even with the effort she puts into being responsible and level-headed, she can be thoughtless, spacey, and forgetful at times. She also has trouble understanding things that are particularly complex, seeing as her own thought process has retained its childish simplicity as well. She really tries to understand, though, even when the subject at hand is clearly beyond her grasp. After all, understanding the world better--even if just a little--will make her more capable of caring for the other fairies.
Sweet and kind-hearted, Daiyousei isn't the sort of person to ignore someone in need, even when she doesn't know them or is unsure what she can do to help. And she would never, ever do anything to intentionally upset or harm someone else--even if it's a person she doesn't really like. Of course, accidents do happen, and in such cases she will go out of her way to make it up to whomever was hurt, no matter what it takes for her to do so. Still, she does have a mischievous streak, enjoying innocent, harmless pranks and playful teasing. As long as no one gets hurt, what's the harm, right?
Generally speaking, Daiyousei has an upbeat, optimistic attitude. However, she's also very emotional and cries easily. Tears start up whenever she's experiencing a particularly strong emotion--it doesn't matter if that emotion is sadness, anger, happiness, or something else entirely. That emotional fragility might be part of the reason she approaches strangers with such shyness; then again, fairies are Gensokyo's cannon fodder, so perhaps her wariness just stems from being shot down one too many times.
After her initial shyness, though, she usually warms up to others quickly. If someone makes a good initial impression, she also tends to be a bit naive and overly trusting in regards to them, overlooking their flaws or any kind of warning signs they might exhibit. On the other hand, if someone makes a poor impression during their first meeting, good luck getting her to reverse her opinion--that is, if you even see her again. She's very skittish around people she dislikes or has a reason to fear and will probably go out of her way to avoid them.
Abilities: Like other Touhou characters, Daiyousei is able to fly and shoot danmaku bullets. As a fairy, she can also regenerate after being killed and recovers from injuries very quickly. As a Great Fairy, she has the ability to exert some degree of influence over other fairies, usually when particularly stressed.
