NO SURGERY PLZ!

Okay so. I was at work today, it wasn't busy, nada. Well, I was being a dork, being kind of bored, and poking my tongue around the inside of my mouth. I felt something a little weird, sort of like something had gotten caught between my back molar and the gum. So I went to the bathroom to check it out ( Read more... )

honestly, getting your wisdom teeth removed isn't really "surgery" and they can potentially cause a LOT of pain and get infected if they become impacted - that means they grow in any way but properly.

My mouth wasn't big enough for my teeth when I was a kid - not that my teeth were abnormally large mind you, so they spent 4 years widening the roof of my mouth. that didn't involve surgery, but it hurt. They took my wisdom teeth out a month before I turned 17 before they came in - because even widened my mouth wasn't big enough.

If you have dental insurance, get things checked out. It's a lot better to see a dentist and know what's happening than be in a lot of needless pain later. I had out-patient surgery with a local, I wasn't even asleep for it, just dopey. They gave me antibiotics and pain meds and sent me home with my mom. 2 days later I was shopping at the mall. It wasn't bad at all.

When I was 16, I had 5 wisdom teeth, and I was allergic to the stuff they used to put me under, so I had to do it by local anesthesia and it took him two visits to get them all out.

And he had hot nurses and got a boner on my forearm when he was working on me :(

Go see a dentist, definitely. It's all "just in case."

Though I can definitely feel your pain. When I had my bad wisdom tooth removed, the anasthetic kept wearing off really fast because of the pain. I'm lucky the doctor was really good and was willing to numb my mouth some more whenever I started flailing from the pain. The doc that worked to fill in the cavity on my other tooth wasn't as good, though. I kept on telling her it hurt, and she told me it shouldn't and kept on drilling. Ow. Just.. ow. *dun like dentists either*

Well I have wisdom teeth as well but they're not breaking the skin because they're nicely impacted. But the only way to know if you've got them all is to get an x-ray done. >_>

I had all four of my impacted wisdom teeth removed at the same time, I didn't feel a thing, they knocked me out cold...The only bad thing was that when I woke up I was crying (you react to the last thimg that happened before you went under, and the needle freakin hurt!), and my bottom lip was numb, but I slept through most of that when I got home... They gave me a script for 800 mgs of ibuprofen, but I only took one that night, and one the next morning before I went to Syracuse, just in case.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, just go to Dr Simmons on Genesee if you have to have them removed...
