John's situation.

As I've been reading the recent posts it's clear that there are a lot of things that *should* have been said that haven't been, primarily due to the reason that they wouldn't be heard, and would in all likeliness do more damage than good. I keep thinking, "if only we could get John's dad to read these, to listen," or something, and I realize that ( Read more... )

If John would like, I can always talk to my Grandpa (a retired pastor from John's dad's church), but I would want to clear it with John first. I talked to him on WoW and he seemed pretty optimistic so I don't think I will need to.

Hmm... I'd like to say it is safer to cover all our bases, but then again we don't want to over pressure his dad either. It is a touchy situation. Hopefully John's optimism is warranted.

Chris, this is a great idea. I think Jeremy mentioned it but for almost all of our talk with John's parents one of their neighbors and family friends (a barber, not a pastor) was there. Before we started he expressed (without realizing why any of us were there) that John should go back to Willamette and finish out. It was ironic and perfect timing. I think that it is somewhat like your plan, but it would be a better supplement then stand alone. In other words, we should look into finding a preacher/pastor as well. Thanks for the tip.
