What I would like to know is..
We apparate at or as close to the conjunction of two ley lines as we possibly can get.

Why can't we just travel along them?

Or right through them? I mean, they're lines of force yes, but they're still *lines*, right? So presumeably you could use the power of the leyline to alter leylines. Make them connect in new ( Read more... )

Kirschwasser?
German was never one of my strong points, although my Spanish isn't too bad, and I picked up various useful phrases such as 'where are the toilets?', 'the ward is okay' and '[cursing], duck!' in quite variety of tongues.

The sky's an illusion though, surely? We see blue because of light being refracted by the gas in the atmosphere... I suppose if we take the actual atmosphere bit as being sky, then there's a indistinct limit to how far it extends, before you start into the territory of Boldy Going hit vaccuum ( ... )

This is why I like you so much.

You think about things too.

Kirschwasser is cherry liqueur. Except it follows the general liqueur rule a little more stringently than say..chocolate liqueur. The general liqueur rule is that it should smell nice but almost always taste like a medicinal potion. (of the sort you get when Madame P is feeling less kindly than usual.)

I wonder what the rain is like at Hogwarts right now?

Family trait - you should hear my father when he sees an interesting example of dangerous flora. Goes -on- -for- -hours-. Sometimes I wonder if his last words will be 'oh, the flower seems to eat humans. How fascinating - you know there are some recorded cases of-'
And... then I decide that's a bit morbid.

Ahh, this makes more sense. So your idea is for alcoholic hot chocolate?
You know, in the spirit of investigation, pursuit of knowledge, and being both of age and stressed, this may be a hypothesis worth testing.

I wonder what the rain is like at Hogwarts right now?

Ominous. Possibly only water by the technical sense.
Frankly, considering who's there, I hope it's unpleasant.

I don't have any kirsch, but I'm sure that we could find some, if we had a way around the Floo problem.

Hot chocolate is easier to come by. And I think you're right, we ought to test the idea at least.

It's a shame as far as rain at Hogwarts and on Voldemort goes, once it comes down it's down, and I don't know anything that would make it rain *up* again.

Kirsch and hot chocolate?
Never tried that one. I have had some damn good chocolate cake with Kirsch in it. And fondue, though apparently it is Bad Form to make a fondue sandwich and do shots of Kirsch.

Extreme feng-shui as a form of transport?
...that's about it for my contribution. Mostly, I wanted to type 'extreme feng-shui'.

That is my Uncle Dave. He's recovered, and is generally being a nuisance in Thorne. I presume one of the medi-witches as directed him to a computer to stop him confusing patients with Muggle magic tricks.

Why not just kill it? It would be more fun.

You are not nice at all.

The rat never hurt you. Though he probably *should* now.

Why don't you just go?

Are you quite sure it's just a rat?
Is there any possibility it could be an animagus?

If it were *that* animagus wouldn't it have a missing forepaw?
If you like, though I could go and ask Alicia for the rat and take him to the Headmistress.

If you're truly concerned, it's simple enough to try to force a transformation back to human form. If it's not an animagus, the spell simply won't have any effect on it. It would be rather unlikely it's Peter, though he's probably not the only one whose animagus form is a rat.

It would be missing a paw. I was just checking that you had checked, Luna.
Also, as Remus said, it might be wise to try to force a transformation anyhow? It could be a student practising to become an animagus, in secret?
