I believe everyone should be proud to learn the principles of feminism and call themselves feminists. The word used to represent transformative change, a new beginning of radicalism that was inclusive, but now it has been manipulated into this negative phenomenon most people are unaware of what truly means.
i know, i feel like i have to give some people a social and historical background lesson in feminism plus an update with what is actually going on because whenever I say I'm in women's studies, it's like "oh, feminism is irrelevant, feminists are all about *insert mistaken stereotype here*". Sometimes it's very frustrating.
do you know how many lovely ladies I know have a great education, ambitions for a career, vote, drive, wear pants, embrace their sexuality, and have most of their basic freedoms granted go and tell me "...but I'm definitely not a feminist..."
worse, are the women who tell me things like "do you really think we need feminism anymore..."
