Well. Most people on my friends list will have already heard that I've recently started a message board RP. And I love this RP, even though it hasn't started for real yet. It is my baby. So I have to get the recruiting stage right to avoid problems down the line.
So, I posted a 'Hey, itz a new RP, come join!' thread on a Roleplay board and waited for response. Before long, the administrator of the whole board came along and submitted a character. The character's name was 'Mysti'. And the administrator, Otritzi, asked me to tell him if Mysti was appropriate.
I feel I should take a moment her to point out that Otritzi's signature reads 'Everything has a price, to be good at one thing you must lose something.' Classic anti-godmoding sentiment, right? So, even if her character seems a little too powerful now, he'll surely realise that she needs to be toned down, right?
So, I post a reply to his character, and I remind him that I already vetoed the possibility of anyone having access to more than they could carry - no 'foldspace' to store things in. And mentioned that one ability he wanted Mysti to have was far too powerful. Hold on, I'll quote: 'Lightning Dragon's Strike - speed based attack, fires off 250 blows in a second, can only be kept up for about two and a half seconds at most and only from one or two limbs, bad for crowd fighting.' (Fun fact - this is the very first example of
godmoding I ever saw.)
So I expect that'll clear up the issue - He asks if a character is acceptable, I say no, but explain what would be acceptable, he... Clings tooth and nail to both original godmodes. It takes a few posts of wheedling to change Mysti's foldspace into a pack, but then Otritzi fills that pack with 'three swords, four collapsable spears, six metal gauntlets, an assortment of martial arts books, Ki and Chi control information scrolls, and a lot of food and waterskins inside, slots on her belt for throwing knifes (Only six of the slots will have knives in them at the beginning of the RP), one sheathed sword on her waist and one non-collapsable, six foot spear strapped to her back.'
Oh, and he refuses to believe that 250 hits a second is godmoding. This damn character's more powerful than my 'ultimate power' NPCs! With this technique, she could end the game in the first five minutes!
I've accepted two characters so far, and one of them was exchanging posts with him all night - he simply will not give up this technique.
He's the administrator of an RP forum! He should know that godmoding leeches all the fun out of it! But every time I say 'this is too much, change it', he reads it as 'explain this again and I'll let you have it.'
This. Is not. Good.
