This is great! I really liked this bit: "I killed a man to show Odin that I was his son. Instead I showed him that I could kill my father without flinching." because it made me look at Odin's action at the end of Thor differently.

Odin's got plenty of reasons to fear Loki. Casual patricide has got to be one of the most pressing. It's weird with that movie - sometimes I feel like Odin's a genuinely loving parent who just struggles to connect with one of his sons, and sometimes I feel like Odin treats Loki as an enemy through a kind of Jotunheim-war PTSD and it just becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.

With both of those interpretations, rejecting Loki while he's literally hanging over a precipice was a bad move.

Wah, thanks for writing this. I'm very intrigued by fics that explore the Hawkeye brainwashing thing in more depth, and how he's all still there at the same time he's not in control of himself at all. It's simplest to say that Clint just hates Loki for what he did, and I suppose he does, but I like to wonder if there wasn't more to it than that.

I think the Clint/Loki dynamic deserves exploring, too. The most interesting thing to me is that Clint doesn't seem to forget anything that happened to him under mind control. So afterwards, he remembers how badly he wanted to please Loki with his every action, and he also knows in his bones that he hates the guy. It must be a difficult state to exist in!
