I saw a book in B&N on Saturday on backyard smithing. It looked SO AWESOME. I've gotta see yours sometime! I'd love to swing a hammer around for a little bit. =D
Woot.... Enjoy all the fun that is a *worker* as we call'm up here. Oh yeah and remember if it gets hot enough to melt the solider in your radio.. you may need to seek a more tenable position *just a little bit of experience talking*
Stay Safe, and keep your tail from getting scorched
Heh, will do. My fuzzy tail is staying wrapped up in its PPE. Our training captain keeps a helmet over his desk that has seen a bit too much heat, I'll bet that was a fun day.
So how're doing Fyr? Seeing any work spikes now that the seasons are changing?
Well for my wayyy to hot day..... it involved someone *use the acronym CHAOS* deciding to shoot the aerial master stream into the roof vent. Me and my partner got steamed like two lobsters ..... Well after we cleared the front door me and my partner decided to go pay his brother a visit...(isn't brotherly love grand).
As far as work... well it's been going pretty steady but it'll be picking up about mid may and come memorial day weekend we'll be in full swing. But we did have a run of arrests lately. My favorite was the guy who came in to file an identity theft and was then arrested for outstanding warrants... (isn't it great when they come to you?). Otherwise life isn't too bad at work but we did respond on a small worker today. It was a wall fire at a local motel.
Well on that day I would have to say someone *the guy who runs around the scene in white gear* had an epic fail of ventilation 101. But his brother and I re-educated him on the principals of ventilation operations. The interesting thing was he knew we were coming to pound him into a paste, that is where the solider melting in the radio comes in... it was locked on transmit.
*nuzzels*
Hey bud remember S$!t happens on a fire scene, and you are your own safety officer. If you can remember those two things you will have a long and fruitful carer.

I get issued my radio today so maybe I'll get to crawl into a big one sometime.
The funny thing is it made me want to light up my forge again and do some smithing. I'll have to get around to it.

Its a pretty fun hobby and not to expensive either since pretty much any scrap iron is useful.
