Remus sat at his desk trying very much not to appear as ill tempered as he felt.
Come in quietly and don't touch the boxes. )

Padma, entering the class, listened to what the professor was saying and carefully chose a seat. A little curious, and a little wary, she carefully opened her box as Professor Lupin had asked ( ... )

Remus smiled at the young witch as she handled her task with accuracy if not speed. He smiled at her and spoke to her in his mellow voice.

"Very well done Miss Padma. Full marks for you. Next."

Remus leaned against the wall and vrossed his lean long legs. He let his amber eyes wash over the room trying to find who would be brave next..

Pansy kept herself to the side ,eyeing the boxes suspiciously. If she'd open one and have a boggart come out she'd go nuts. Not because she couldn't handle one,but out of fear for what it might show her.

She sighed and gatherd all her courage, raising her chin in the air and walking seemingly confident towards one of the boxes.

When she opend it Kelpie came out.

that's it? i have to fight an oversized elf?

She shook her head and murmerd the counterspell, seemingly bored and with an air of arrogance around her. After what happend in professor Snape's class she had to get her reputation up again.

"Honestly professor"She said mockingly, tho not meaning it" Next time, give us some *real* enemies to fight".She looked him in the eyes and held his gaze, flicking her hair before turning around and retrieving to her place in the back of the class.

Remus watched as the counterspell for an Erklig bounced off of the shapeshifting Kelpie. He stood and walked toward the creature and grabbed the bridle where the shapeshifters powers lie.

"Miss Parkinson, dear , if you had a more dangerous creature you would be dead and I would cry at your funeral before being sacked for thinking you capable of handling this assignment. Now everyone listen up. This is a prime example of why you should take a second look before making any assumptions. Especially when dealing with shapeshifters. The way you identify the Kelpie is the telltale signs of his bridle that do not shift.Like the silver rings that hold it together. Also you might have noticed the water that is now dripping all over the floor. Kelpies are water demons. They can not be long from water. Now Miss Parkinson would you like to accept this grade or would you like to choose another box?"

Remus turned and placed the creature firmly inthe box and sealed the lid.

Pansy treated Lupin on one of her famous "you*will*die" glares and stepped forward again.
She was hesitating,it was either having a bad mark for DADA *or* risking the chance of having a boggart appearing out of one of the boxes.

She swallowed and walked up to the box closest to professor Lupin. You can do this, show him that you master the Dark Arts...make your father proud

She opened the lock of the box with shaking hands, jumping back when her worst fear gracefully stepped out of it.

She could only gasp and step back, looking up with eyes filled with pure terror.

There, in front of her was her father, smirking down on her.

She opend her mouth and closed it again ."r-ridicul.."She started. The figure only walking towards her with a cold expression on his face, his eyes reflecting hate.

Seeing the young Slytherin in real trouble Remus swept in front of her and pointed his wand *Ridiculus* the boggart dove for the box and he slammed the lid closed.

"Nice try Miss Parkinson. You will get points for a good effort. Now, everyone this is a good example of why we teach this class. Why don't you sit and get some rest Miss Parkinson. You have had a rough day."

Remus walked back over to the wall to lean against it and cross his long legs .

"Whose next come on don't be shy. There are plenty of boxes left."

Hermione took a deep breath and kicked open her box just in case she should be afraid. Out pounced a very orange and very snarling fat Gnark and she lept back without losing her balance a second, wand steady in front of her, her other arm above her head.

Her mind raced as she took a split-second to realise that it's claws were purple and not green and therefore NOT poisonous. She relaxed a bit and called, "Ditimido!" The Gnark's teeth disappeared and claws nubbed and it immediately shrunk back and whimpered. She put her wand back into her robes and picked up the fat creature and placed him back in his box. She sealed it, knowing full well the teeth and claws would be back in under a minute, and smiled a giddy, adrenaline fueled smile.

Remus watched intently as Hermione opened the box. He tensed but slightly waiting with his wand clutched gently in his hand. Hermione quickly took care of the creature and Remus smiled at the bushy haired Gryffindor.

"Well done Hermione. Full marks for you."

The slender Dark Arts Professor leaned against another wall waiting for the next student.

Hermione let out a laugh filled with pulsing energy. "Thank you, Professor."

She sat down on her box and watched Professor Lupin, studying his movements. He was incredibly strong for a werewolf. Then again, she thoguht, he'd have to be, wouldn't he? Either way, she decided, he makes an excellent defence teacher.
