I gained a whole new respect for him over a decade ago with the movie "The Aristocrats" which is a documentary about the dirtiest joke. Not too long after 9/11 there was a major comedy roast. The nation was still healing. He got up and did a joke about him being concerned about his trip to New York especially since his itinerary showed a stop at the Empire State Building. There was stunned silence and a shout of "Too soon!" He then went into the Aristocrat joke that was so filthy and profane that it had the audience in stitches. People were laughing until they cried. It was exactly what was needed at the time as a cathartic experience.
