You, my friend, need to look for alternate checkout locations. On the release night of the 6th Harry potter book, Meijer had a line around the inside of the store. All checkouts staffed, at midnight. Everyone went to the checkouts in front, even though they were announcing over the PA that photo/electronics, sporting goods, and pharmacy checkouts were open. I had gotten groceries when I saw the line, sat down in the furnature section for a few minutes. After the line for books passed, I walked right up and grabbed one, wend directly to electronics, and checked out with no line.

If you are in a Walmart before 9, electronics and sporting goods are usually open with no line. Just take it easy trying to check out in jewelry, they have enough problems staffing that area.
